Searching for a holiday cottage in Wales? Then Gwent is the place for you, especially after renting a holiday cottage in the area, ideal for all touristic exploring. The city of Newport is the bustling capital, home to a top-level rugby team, Gwent Dragons. If rugby is not really your thing, then you will be pleased to know the city, of course, has much more to offer, such as its stunning waterfront and brilliant Gwent Theatre. While the Cwcarn Forest offers gorgeous walks through serene wildlife, Super Tubing in Ebbw Vale brings rip-roaring excitement and hours of fast-paced entertainment to families and friends. For a more relaxed afternoon with your loved one, the Bedwellty House and Park in the lovely town of Tredegar has both elegant architecture, fascinating history and beautiful nature grounds. Back in Ebbw Vale, the Ebbw Vale Works Museum offers a unique glimpse into the Gwent way of life and past.

Another fabulous but white-knuckle-free day out is a picnic (lovingly prepared in your holiday cottage) along the Offas Dyke National Trail. Maybe you will not be walking the whole 177 miles, but do go just far enough to see the gorgeous landscape, and tell the young ones t keep their eyes peeled for badgers! Gwent also has plenty of historical monuments and castles, such as Caldicot Castle, a medieval building surrounded by woods and pretty gardens. You might spot some birds of prey in the sky, but to get up close and personal, be sure to visit Gwent during the Festival Park Owl Sanctuary.
