Hunting Lodge
The truly unique Hunting Lodge is a stone-built detached cottage situated behind the walled entrance of the Talhenbont Hall estate on the edges of Snowdonia.
The pet-friendly holiday cottage on the Llyn Peninsula epitomises rural charm with its slate floors, exposed beams and exposed stone work plus an accent feature wall with fireplace in the sitting room.
The lodge is set on its own and offers four bedrooms, including two doubles, a twin and one family room with two singles and one adult bunk. The bathrooms comprise a ground-floor room with bath and basin and another shower room with shower, basin and WC.
Central heating and the electric wood-burning effect stove warm the sitting room, which features charming décor and a bay window ideal for catching the sun. The dining area also attracts natural light and sits adjacent to the fitted kitchen, whose stable doors opens to a private patio with seating and raised, lawned garden.
Guests are assured a restful stay with the provision of laundry facilities, off-road parking and amenities for young children, while they may be forgiven for spending their entire holiday on the estate, courtesy of its beautiful expansive gardens which meet a stream and the surrounding woodlands.
The property also offers a Quackery, outdoor lawn chess for adults, space for pets to run free, and all-weather outdoor tennis courts. Interested parties can also try their hand at fishing.

Visit mount Snowdon on the mountain railway - excellent.Scenery beautiful. Local villages and towns are clean and picturesque. More than enough things to do. The cottage was in a beautiful position and perfect all round. Lovely walks around the cottage.
The location - superb grounds and freedom to roam within the grounds, good adventure playground, gardens and fantastic woodland and river. Mr Good very welcoming and left us to our devices. The quality of the house was one of the best.
The spaciousness of the Lodge.Being on the Estate, which is a real gem, full of surprises.
The facilities on the estate are excellent for children and adults and it provides an excellent centre for the whole of the Lleyn peninsula.
Everything was perfect, the house and surroundings were amazing.
I cannot choose particular things, everything was wonderful. Lovely, lovely holiday, see you again soon!
Estate was very lovely and beautiful for all.
The estate is beautiful and managed really well. The owners is very friendly and helpful. I would like to stay here again.
It is a very friendly 'family' place. The children had a fantastic time playing in 'fools forest' and helping to feed the animals. Beautiful surroundings.
Beautiful location and grounds, very peaceful.
Lovely property, host was extremely helpful and welcoming. What really made the holiday was that the property was situated on a beautiful estate with lovely forest walks and the children really enjoyed feeding time at the Quackery. Also, as on an estate, it felt very safe for the kids.
The grounds/estate were excellent, interesting and well kept, especially The Quackery and Fools Woods.
The location was excellent because it was just inside the gate and a long way from any of the other cottages. The country estate was brilliant for walking the dog. The location just outside Cricceth was ideal, though, on this occasion, the weather was very wet.
The Hunting Lodge in great grounds - Fools Forest and quackery great for the kids. Cottage nice and spacious and patio area pleasant for bbq.
Location was amazing. The house was very cosy and the outside space was beautiful.
It was a delightful cottage set in a quiet location with access to the owners estate. The estate had lots of interesting features notwithstanding the woods, river and wildlife. It was also well located for access to the Lleyn peninsular and Snowdonia. Plenty to do if you want to get out and about and plenty of opportunities for exploring if you want to enjoy the quiet solitude of the estate.
The grounds surrounding the Hunting Lodge were spectacular. We enjoyed having the use of a tennis court.
Lovely cottage and surrounding area. The forest walks especially were excellent.
Location and facilities on site were very good. Owners very welcoming, friendly and happy to help. Children loved feeding the birds in the Quackery and there were some lovely walks in the woods. You could fill a day without having to go out of the grounds! There was enough to keep the children entertained and yet quiet and peaceful.
Fab location. Lovely to be away with family. Friendly and helpful staff. The estate was great in itself; the beautiful river, the grounds, the "Fools forest", "Fort Good", the "Quackery" and the tennis court. Lots to entertain the kids.
The location of Talhenbont Hall was excellent. Having the ability to walk in the grounds with the river, sheep and birds was a real highlight.
The location was outstanding, total peace and tranquillity. It's a credit to the owner for the environmentally friendly and perfect attention to detail for a lovely holiday. The river was beautiful, you could have been anywhere in the world and could not beat this spot, thank you!
Beautiful surroundings and really friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent location in fabulous woodland. We loved the quackery. Would definitely recommend this accommodation.
The lodge is on a fabulous property, lovely walks along the river and my children really enjoyed the sheep and the peacocks. The location is very quiet.
Ability to visit lots of places in North Wales within in 2 hours.
The estate within which the cottage was located was superb with loads of animals (sheep, peacocks, geese and ducks) which we thoroughly enjoyed feeding. The owners were lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. There was also a lovely walk by the river which was gorgeous.
When we first arrived at the Lodge, and opened the door into the lounge we all said 'wow', it really is the most attractive place. The Lodge and the surroundings were unbelievable, my family and I spent a whole morning exploring and feeding the animals. I have travelled all over the world and never stayed anywhere so beautiful.
Peaceful and quiet with beautiful surroundings and a river valley; a lovely cottage. Enjoyable trips to feed the animals and friendly owners and staff. Close enough to nice beaches, villages and shops. A lovely holiday.
Very well equipped cottage with everything you would need. Lovely grounds with beautiful woodland and places to walk dogs.
The area was brilliant and the facilities on the estate excellent. Would love to go again. My grandchildren came for the day and they loved the playground and The Quackery. The owners were excellent hosts and they made certain we were made welcome.
The accommodation was lovely and the grounds were absolutely amazing. It was so nice to be able to walk out of the front door and into such lovely surroundings. It was ideal with a youngster and two dogs. Everything you could need on holiday.
Spacious rural retreat in a great location
The lodge had plenty of room for a large family. It was warm, clean and really interesting. The owners were nearby and very welcoming. And the lodge was well placed to visit all the North West Wales attractions, especially Criccieth.
Unique and gorgeous
We've stayed in autumn and springtime and had a wonderful break both times. In autumn there was a eery atmosphere in the grounds especially when foggy and the unusual gardens and ghost stories added to the ambience. In springtime it was beautiful with bluebells by the river and our children helped feed the lambs. A really unique place to stay and definitely full of character. Roger is so friendly and helpful too.
Lovely cottage and beautiful grounds
We had a very good time at the hunting lodge. It is located in a beautiful setting. The owners are friendly and helpful, offering us access to the large property which has a tennis court, gardens and the beautiful 'Quackery'. The bathrooms were a bit dated but overall we would recommend the Hunting Lodge.
I would recommend that if you are staying at this property, you bring with you absolutely everything you need (Food including the basics, toiletries, towels). Don't expect to find anything at the cottage. This is not a criticism, just a heads up.
The children could run freely and play also that they was allowed to get involved by helping with the animals Great that the dog was made welcome we will be recomendind this to all our friends
