Lyndhurst was a favourite hunting ground for previous Kings and Queens, who stayed at the Royal Manor. As a focal point for the New Forest, Lyndhurst is a popular destination for those tourists looking to explore the area. The town was also popularised by Lewis Caroll's "Alice in Wonderland" as Alice Lidell, on who Caroll based the character, was a resident of Lyndhurst.
