Ullapool is a popular destination for exploring the North West Highlands of Scotland. The area is surprisingly warm despite being so far North, this is due to the close proximity of the "North Atlantic Drift". The town has the ferry for Stornoway and the Outer Hebrides and is also surrounded by some incredible scenery, with the impressive An Teallach mountain dominates the skyline.
The town is also popular with artists as the light creates some very special landscapes. As well as art, the town also hostes many music and literary festivals throughout the year. So although Ullapool is a small highland fishing port the combination of location, climate and scenary as well as a vibrant local arts scene, make Ullapool a very popular place to visit.
