Applecross in Inverness-shire is a charming lochside village on the West Coast of Scotland with views across to the Isle of Skye from its beaches. A holiday in an Applecross holiday cottage is a great way to enjoy this beautiful region. When you journey to Applecross the drive across the B2053 road, the 'Bealach na Ba', while the drive might not be for the faint hearted the scenery is truly spectacular. The mountains and Lochs offer tourists a wealth of wonderful walks and for nature lovers the indigenous wildlife, such as Eagles over the mountains and whales in the channel beyond the Loch and out to sea.
Given that Applecross is quite a small, quiet village, (the name itself is derived from the Gaelic name for the area, ‘a Chomraich’ meaning 'Sanctuary') it offers visitors plenty of things to see and do, from outdoor activities such as sea kayaking to walking to amazing meals in the Applecross Inn (winner of many culinary awards). Go walking along the Cuillin Ridge and in the Torridon mountains. For climbers it's also a perfect base for some challenging climbs in the area.
