Afton Thatch is a large, detached thatched Isle of Wight holiday cottage located at the head of the River Yar. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the cottage, built in 1697, has been restored to a very high standard and awarded 4 stars by Visit Britain. Tasteful and yet understated, this lovely cottage has been interior designed and features antiques, handmade curtains and upholstered furniture throughout.
With oak beams, fireplaces and an eat-in kitchen, complete with aga, the cottage has an authentic style and atmosphere that is rare among rental properties. 'I think that the greatest appeal is that Afton Thatch feels lived in. Many vacation homes have this kinda cold feeling to them when you arrive.
?When we get to the Thatch we feel right at home immediately, and get on enjoying ourselves right away' (Family of 3, May 2010)

A red squirrel put in an appearance in the tree which you can see from the bedroom on our final morning. We didn't eat out in the evenings as we couldn't imagine that we would get such a super view in a restaurant as we did from the cottage!
