Kilkenny

Renting a holiday cottage in Kilkenny is a great way to visit this old county steeped in Irish history. Kilkenny City with a history that stretches from the fifth century, when St. Kieran persuaded the local chieftans to accept the Christian faith, through the Middle Ages, when the city had its own parliament, and then fighting on the Royalists' side in the 17th century Civil War. Evidences of all this history can be seen in the Castle, St.Canice's Cathedral, the Tudor Rothe House and the Black Abbey.
