Half Moon Lane Cottage
Sleeps 6

Half Moon Lane Cottage

Renovated with a love of the outdoors (and muddy paws) in mind, this country cottage has three double bedrooms (including super king with en-suite), a double sided log burner, leather sofas, a fully equipped country kitchen with range cooker, indoor and outdoor dining for six, a library/games room, and a coat and boot area by the front door. Oiled brick floors run throughout the open plan kitchen and dining hall, with quarry tiles in the library and solid wood flooring everywhere else.

Your dogs are as welcome as you are in all indoor living and bedroom spaces and the enclosed back garden with patio, decking, lawn and seating is well fenced and secure. Beyond the full height gates are an infinite number of rural adventures that will delight you and your dogs. All soft furnishings are leather or fully washable fabric. You can wipe walls clean with a damp cloth if you have a mud splatter moment. Canine amenities and supplies are provided as standard and include treats, bowls, towels, holiday dog tags, poo bags and tennis balls. There is even an enormous and remarkable dog bath with hot and cold mixer tap just for the dogs (towels provided of course)!

The lounge and library share the double sided wood burner so there is ample room beside or around the fire (be advised though that many a tired dog has quickly claimed and refused to relinquish the best spot). There are two sofas, leather beanbags, a desk, board games, puzzles, playing cards, a smart TV and books. Double doors open onto the outdoor area at the back of the cottage and there is enough outdoor space to enjoy warm summer evenings and the vast dark starry skies.

Upstairs are three double bedrooms. The ensuite has a large double ended bath that is the perfect place to enjoy a hot soak by candlelight after a long day in the great outdoors before falling in to the luxurious super king bed. The king and smaller double share the family bathroom which has a bath with shower over. Both bathrooms have illuminated mirrors with shaving sockets and underfloor heating, and the en-suite has a walk in rain head shower.

Professionally laundered linen bedding and towels, soaps, tea, filter coffee and sugar are provided.

Smokers are welcome to smoke outside - please remove cigarette litter. There are many steps at the cottage (including all entrances to the property), raised door thresholds, restricted headroom and the ground/floors are uneven in places. The property is not suitable for children aged 11 or under. Older children or adults with mobility difficulties should read the descriptions carefully and consider that all bedrooms are upstairs. The cottage is maintained as ethically as possible and has a Silver Award from Green Tourism.

From 1st April 2022 an EV charger will be available at the cottage

First holiday with our adopted dog

The cottage is beautiful and so well appointed. You've clearly put thought into making guests feel welcome. We relaxed straight away. The fact that our dog was also welcome in all spaces was very important to us, it helped us relax and in turn it helped him settle in quickly too. Anything we could have needed was provided (kitchen equipment, bedding, towels, toiletries etc.). We fell in love with the area! We did some lovely walks, our adopted ex-racing greyhound was beside himself with joy all day! It was his first break with us and we also took him on his first ever pub outing at the Cross Keys. We're looking forward to some more time at the cottage.

It is simply the nicest cottage we’ve stayed in

The bikes were great… our teens rode over to Mick the Baker for cakes and then we all did one of the lovely walks from the village pub. I can’t explain what a fantastic time we’ve had. We can’t wait to return if you’ll have us! It was very hard to leave such a lovely home & area. Our greyhound loved the large dog bed in the main bedroom...a huge thanks from our dogs! You really have thought of everything for them & they had such a great time. We visited all the places you’d recommended & Knettishall Heath was definitely their favourite!

A real gem for dog lovers & their 4 legged friends! The cottage is beautiful and finished to a very high standard. It’s very clean and extremely comfortable. Beautiful walks on the doorstep and surrounding area. It is simply the nicest cottage we’ve stayed in and the attention to detail is fantastic... Highly recommended! Huge thanks again for an amazing stay! :)

Walk in and immediately feel as if it were your own home

Great cottage, lovely quiet area - 10 minutes walk to the local village owned pub & shop & 15 minutes walk over the fields to a highly recommended baker (Mick) at the Starwing brewery. You walk in and immediately feel as if it were your own home. The dog loved it and was relaxing immediately, with no stress. Thought and attention to the canine amenities was outstanding and the humans had just as much attention. We especially loved the dual aspect log burner, sadly it was to warm to use it, but the thought of that roaring on a cold winters evening is just wonderful. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay in the house.

Stunning local walks and sleepy pubs

This is a fantastic little bolt hole within close proximity to Diss and other site seeing areas in Norfolk and Suffolk. Situated within a lovely village with stunning local walks and sleepy pubs. The house itself is brilliantly catered for your dog and family. Had a lovely stay! Thank you! All three dogs loved it too. We would defo like to stay again! We shall be booking again soon. Great find.

Extremely dog friendly... facilities within the cottage were perfect

Had a wonderful stay at the cottage. It was extremely dog friendly. There were walking routes provided at the cottage which were fantastic. The log burner was an added bonus on a cold night. The facilities within the cottage were perfect especially the bath in the en suite. Redgrave has a very friendly local pub and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the local quiz. Would definitely stay again!

My nervous dog was relaxed for the whole week

We just enjoyed the perfect doggy holiday! Of my two rescue dogs, one is particularly anxious and he can struggle to settle into unfamiliar environments, but he was very relaxed for the whole week which in turn helped us relax. Friends joined us with their dog and the holiday was even more special as all three dogs enjoyed staying together and the incredible walks nearby. I thought we might have to make sacrifices on the standard of the accommodation in a dog welcoming cottage, but the opposite was true. The website doesn’t show how spectacular the cottage is - the layout is just brilliant and everything is finished to such a lovely standard. It is beautiful and has features that are a huge surprise... just divine. I can't imagine finding a dog friendly holiday cottage that would trump this one. We humans played games and puzzles by the fire, whilst our best friends played and relaxed together.

Dog beds in every room!

Lovely place well laid out, the sitting room was large with two sofas and large tv, a woodburner heater, and a brill large dog bed. The kitchen area was great a lot of room and underfloor heating especially by the table and also another a dog bed. Also there is a library and if you like there are games . The main bedroom has a en-suite with a deep bath and a walk in shower and underfloor heating. The garden was great for your dogs but due going in january didn't spend a lot of time out there but if going in the summer would be great, But great places to walk with your little friends or big ones. Bedding, towels hand soap shampoo and conditioner and much more so if you are looking for a really great place for yourselfs and your dogs check out half moon lane cottage ( dog beds in very room ) Had a great time

Decapitated (Toy!) Ducks

Just wanted to say what a beautiful house you have. It's absolutely gorgeous and you've thought of everything! We have a slightly over excited dog who has been overwhelmed by the toys... and has decapitated a few ducks. We've ordered a few for delivery to the cottage as replacements ?

Never in my life have I felt so at home...

Never in my life have I felt so at home somewhere that isn’t my own home... Not only is the property in a stunning location, perfect for long and peaceful dog walks, but the cottage itself is equally as beautiful. It’s spotlessly clean, it’s cosy and comfortable, it’s extremely well equipped and it’s understated luxury; the best kind of luxury...

Our boy [dog], has had such a wonderful few days away too. Darting around the garden like he’s been shot out of a cannon, going for long walks across the fields, before falling asleep on the nice warm floors, trying to steal the bags of treats that he has come to love so much and dragging every single toy out of the basket, only to end up playing with just one of them. It’s been so nice to stay somewhere that is so well catered for dogs and where we haven’t had to worry about him coming in with little muddy paws, or whether he sneaks up onto the sofa for a snuggle...
