This remote cottage in the Valley of Grisdale, on the North Yorkshire/Cumbria border, has a good kitchen with utility cloakroom off to one side and a large living room with feature multifuel stove that provides most of the heating and hot water on the other. There are two good sized bedrooms upstairs (one double, one twin) with a modern bathroom between. This cottage is most suited to people who want to get away from it all. There is no internet connection or mobile phone reception although for safety, the land-line phone is in service. Water comes from a spring source and is filtered and UV treated. There are an abundance of walks in the immediate area and many national routes and challenges nearby. All fuel for the stove, bed linen and towels are provided and when the weather turns, it is easy to batten down the hatches and sit in comfort in front of a roaring fire with the Freeview TV, DVD's or music to keep you company until the weather passes. The large back garden is also fairly pet safe but dogs need to be kept under control outside the garden as the surrounding farmland is grazed by livestock. Bookings, including payment, can be made directly through the Moor Rigg web site.
