Robin Hood's Bay is a picturesque old fishing village with narrow cobbled streets and quaint cottages. Located between Scarborough and Whitby, this village is at the edge of a wide bay backed by beautiful cliffs and moorland scenery and was once home to author Leo Walmsley. Guests can enjoy the beach and cliff-top walks, or one of the many long-distance trails through the Cleveland Way like the Lyke Wake Walk.

Excellent base for our holiday

Excellent base for our holiday, Perhaps a little too big as there was only the two of us,very suitable for families. Easy access to the coast, good bus service to the bay, whitby or scarborough if you don't want to drive. Very nice local pub.

Very Enjoyable

We enjoyed our stay and the location coupled with the rental price was very good.It was clean and well appointed and very comfortable.the only problem we could find was this is still a work in progress home.Tiles in the kitchen needed to be fixed the small room to the rear had a damp smell as did the toilet off the kitchen which if the door was left shut overnight was quite strong. But apart from that no problem.i would like to stay there again next year and will book if available.

Great Place

The house is a bit odd in that you approach it from the back - however - it is a lovely place once you are in it. Plenty of space and things for children too. 15 mins to Whitby, 5 mins down to the sea, 20 mins onto the moors. A great place and really lovely owners; a pleasure to deal with. The only issue is the door is a bit hard the first time you use it - but its okay once you get used to it. (Not good if you have a disability as there are lots of stairs and are a little steep.)

A beautiful, quiet, very warm and personal place to stay.

We spent a week at Burnside and we loved every minute of it. The house has three levels with 3 lounge areas and a spacious kitchen. There are little personal touches like the small fossils found in the local beach which we found endearing. The facilities are good and the location is perfect: half way between Whitby and Scarborough. Highly recommended.

Great house, perfect location

House was very clean and lovely. We particularly liked having 2 sitting rooms so the children could spread out. Also the patio was perfect and we often ate outside watching the sheep on the hill opposite. It was great to arrive somewhere new after a drive and be welcomed by milk and biscuits for a much needed cup of tea. House is perfectly located between Whitby and Scarborough for exploring but it's also a lovely child friendly walk into Robin Hood's bay for looking for fossils. My children particularly loved the massive bath. House owners were extremely helpful. Would recommend.

well equipped and full of character

Had a great stay at Burnside. Spacious kitchen with long dining table - perfect for evening meal for us 4 adults. Plenty of utensils / pans etc so cooking eve meals was hassle free. We also had a 3 year old who enjoyed having a 'play room' next to dining room complete with a box of toys, which was a thoughtful touch. The house is on 3 levels and there are steep stairs, steps down to the front door plus a wooden staircase from first floor entrance /TV area down to the kitchen, so be aware if you are bringing young children. Gorgeous bathroom with a fantastic deep bath - perfect for soaking away the aches and pains after a clifftop run. Original features give this place bags of character alongside a modern kitchen / bathroom. Good heating system meant the place stayed warm and cosy against the north east coast chilly coastal fog. One rather tight parking space outside but there was parking on the road further up the road. Highly recommend.

The house was absolutely superb, comfortable, charming, spacious and well equipped - everything has been thought of. The location is perfect for a short or long break.

Mr Macken

This beautiful, period property was spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. The location was ideal - set in a lovely village with a gentle stroll to the local shops & pub. We enjoyed being able to relax together as a family and not having to travel very far to beaches and activities.

Miss Turpin

It was a beautiful house in a beautiful location and ideal for local walks and sight seeing. The house was ideal for families and couples with everything thought of for short or long stays, which makes for a enjoyable holiday.

Mr Whitham

The location for us was perfect. The cottage was warm and comfortable. A lovey touch of tea and biscuits set out for us on arrival.

Mrs Symonds

The location was excellent just a short walk to a children's play area and the beach. A real family home and ideal base for a fantastic family holiday. Lovely welcome with tea, coffee and biscuits.

Mrs Wilkinson

A wonderful house in a beautiful location.

Mr Whitham

The location was perfect - near the beach, pub, cycle path and walks from the front door. We liked the higgledy-piggledyness of the house.

Ms Ellis

Good, comfortable, well equipped property, well situated for Robin Hoods Bay.

Mr Paterson

Beautiful holiday home, so cosy and comfortable. Really loved the Victorian style bathroom. Ideal for Whitby, Scarborough and York.

Mrs Whitelaw

A lovely house in a fantastic village within a short walk of Robin Hood's Bay. Lots of useful info and guidebooks in the house.

Mrs Church

Excellent accommodation finished to a high standard. Lovely bathroom with bath and a shower. Very warm and cosy property which is needed in North Yorkshire!

Mr Preston

Loved the house, loved the area.

Mr Willmoth

This is the third time we have stayed at Burnside and have enjoyed ourselves every time. Burnside is a very nice house and well equipped.

Mrs Douglas

The cottage was beautiful. Nicely furnished and decorated, and very clean on arrival. Good location too, not in the Bay itself, but a good walk away. Would definitely book again, and would also recommend to others.

Mrs Gravenor

It is obvious straight away that this is not just a 'rental' cottage but a well-loved family home with all those little extras to make it feel a real home-from-home. We all enjoyed the luxurious deep bath. The cottage is well situated, a lovely stroll across fields to Robin Hood's Bay where we had some great days on the beach. Would definitely recommend Burnside for a family holiday and would like to return one day too.

Mrs Ward

It's a beautiful cottage in peaceful surroundings. The location is perfect for walking and sightseeing.

Mrs Knight

The people in the local village were so friendly, the pub and shops were even better. Beautiful village, just a nice distance out of the bay. Excellent base to explore the east coast.

Mr Oliver

Excellent and quiet location. Property very clean and well-presented. Very convenient for Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. We would certainly return again.

Dr Craven

This is obviously a well loved property in a beautiful area of Yorkshire. We felt at home as soon as we arrived and the ability to buy freshly laid eggs from next door was a bonus. The walking distance to Robin Hoods Bay was easy to manage and the local pub served some superb food.

Mr Brooks

A lovely clean welcoming property with plenty of space. The weather was so beautiful we spent more time outside but the property was well equipped to deal with any eventuality - a quiet room, TV room, even a room to sit and chat whilst wait for the meal to cook. Had a well equipped kitchen, the bathroom facilities are good and the downstairs toilet is a help.

Mr Dutch

Burnside is a stunning property and really made our holiday. We were so comfortable there and found it to be so clean and so beautifully finished it was almost disappointing going home to our own house again! Stayed there with our kids who enjoyed having their own rooms. We especially liked the ample living space, the big kitchen and beautiful bathroom. It was, by a mile, the nicest self-catering house we have ever stayed in and we would consider returning to the area just to stay there again!

Ms Elder

Lovely accommodation, full of period charm and character with sympathetic renovation/extension into modern areas. Comfortable, warm and very well equipped.

Mrs Thornton

The property was spacious, yet still warm and cosy. Liked the fantastic location, the walks and the quiet at night.

Ms Dawn

An excellent base for a stay at Robin Hood's Bay. Everything's been thought of. A well-kept, excellent property we would highly recommend.
