Laurel Bank Cottage
we have just returned from laurel bank,,as an extended group ,over a week, varying from 8 people,,to,,at one time,12,,,accomodatin was excellent, and plenty of room for our mixed group of adults and children,,,couldnt be faulted,,,watch out for smoke alarm if doing sausages in the morning,,lol,,,would go again,,and all,in a word,,excellent|\
The owners were next door and very helpful. the house was clean and well equipped and we were very comfortable.
The house is set off the main road in a lovely village with walks from the door, plus the steam train too. Also, it was handy to drive into Skipton (or there is a bus) for shopping and sightseeing. There is a large, old well preserved castle there, and the canal runs through it too.
With easy access to the main east/west roads A65 & A59, we could quickly reach other Dales locations, ie Malham, Brimham Rocks, Ingleton waterfalls, etc.
Our best day out was at Brimham Rocks (N.T.) which the kids loved climbing, closely followed by Inglton water falls. We found car parking expensive though, so be warned!
Fabulous place for 3 generations to celebrate. Walking distance of Skipton, which has lots of attractions, and 2 local pubs serving good food.
Loads of space indoors and out plus lots of games and films to entertain everyone.
The owner was very obliging and unintrusive.
Liked everything and disliked nothi
A family gathering in Yorkshire
The location is excellent, with a post office/general store and two nearby pubs.
The lounge, bedrooms and kitchen/dining room are spacious with adequate heating when required. The showers are OK, albeit a little cramped, and the water was hot when needed. There is sufficient cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils, and the kitchen appliances are very good.
There were minor niggles during our stay, e.g. kitchen cold water tap was very difficult to turn off, and there were no towel rails alongside the bedroom washbasins.
Overall, our stay was very good.
Spent a weekend at Laurel Bank cottage, although we were only there in the evenings so didn't really see it in daylight!. Accomodation and facilities were excellent for our group of nine. Plenty of comfy sofas and chairs in the very spacious lounge and very cosy with the fire on.
Enough room to park five large vehicles.
Owners very pleasant and accomadating particularly with our dogs.
On the whole we were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay inspite of the poor weather. It had been very wet up to then and the downstairs bedrooms were unfortunately a bit damp as a result. However it was the poor wi fi reception that was the biggest disappointment for several of our party - a minor problem for most people on holiday you'd think! The location was great and given transport, there was plenty to see and do. We had a dog and had no problems at all with that.

Spacious Family accommodation, quiet village location
We, a Family party of 2 young grandchildren, 2 parents, and 4 grandparents, stayed at Laurel Bank Cottage in February 2013. The room sizes were well above average, the kitchen/diner could sit 12 comfortably, as could the lounge. The bedrooms were very spacious. Some outside space for the 2 young children was very welcome. The views around, from all windows, were spectacular. A moderate half-hour walk to Skipton, through the woods, was enjoyed by all. Super Family accommodation.
A spacious, comfortable house in a great location.
Laurel Bank is more like a big house than a cottage; plenty of room, well equipped and convenient for the Dales, Skipton and a very good pub just up the hill. The owner was friendly and kindly lent us some towels when we found we'd forgotten to bring our own.
lovely house pity about the letting agents
Stayed with a large group of friends, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage has everything you'd need, excellently equipped, great views and a lovely location in a very pretty village just a couple of miles from Skipton. Great communal living room, spacious rooms, well equipped kitchen, nice touches like games and books to read, massive telly if needed. Wooden floors can be cold on the feet so take slippers and don't stroke the ginger cat as it bites, but otherwise a perfect place to stay. We will be returning I am sure.
Fabulous affordable holiday cottage..
A group of 10 of us stayed here. Lovely scenic surroundings. 2 mile walk into Skipton. Two local pubs. Very friendly. Local steam train to Bolton Abbey took you back in time. Lots around to see.
Fab accommodation had everything we needed. Roomy throughout. Better than the advertised pictures. Spotless and nicely decorated. All beds were comfy. Showers and bath were newly fitted. Well equipped kitchen for our group cooking our own meals. 3 draw freezer. Large tall fridge. Dish washer and washer/dryer. Lots of pots and pans. T.towels. Etc. Take your own towels and hair dryer. Home from home. Bbq outside and decked area with table and chairs. Highly recommended for family or group. Loved it. Would go again.
Lots to do nearby and within short journey. Property was spacious, clean and warm.
We were very pleased with the cottage, we would like to return there at some time. I t was extremely well equipped and handy for other places to visit. The locals were very friendly as well in the pub!!
Perfect location. In the country but within walking distance of a decent pub. We did very little driving and a whole age range from 3 to 60 was kept busy.
The house was ideal for a large family get together we have great difficulty finding larger places to stay and this was excellent the location was perfect - you should have boasted about this more on your site! skipton is so central for many places to visit
Plenty of space for our family of 8 grown-ups, and lovely warm home. Excellent location for walking, visiting, relaxing. Liked the big dining table for family meals.
Great venue for a family get together, cottage accomodated our group of 12 and dog with no problem -loved the fact that we could all eat together in dining kitchen and plenty of room for everyone to socialise in the lounge.Embsay/Bolton Abbey Steam Railway was a great day out and within walking distance of cottage. Owners very helpful.
Very good for small children. The owner was most helpful.
Location was great and ideal place for families of all ages. The cottage was well stocked with all we needed.
An excellent base for exploring Skipton & surrounding area. The owners were very helpful.
Sunny patio for eating out.Good property for large family groups. The house was particularly well equipped for small children - both facilities & toys. Excellent bas for exploring the southern Dales. Local pub serves good food and range of hand pulled beers.
It is an excellent base for some very good walks (with or without the kids). Had a great day out on the Embsay railway, including a walk to Bolton abbey for a picnic lunch, and another day at Skipton castle, both were good for the two children (3 and 9 years).
Spaciousness of accomodation. Well equipped kitchen. The barbecue was well used. Good quiet location convenient for Skiption and North Yorks.
The house was well equipped, spacious and comfortable to live in and had a large garden. The cottage was in a great location with 2 pubs within a short walking distance. Both served good food. There was a vintage steam railway nearby that was great fun that took you to the nearby Boulton Abbey.
A fantastic location for a weekend break in winter. Excellent family accommodation.
Good size property, ideal location for Skipton, good facilities at a reasonable price. On the whole we were very pleased with the property.
This is an excellent cottages for large families or groups - very clean and nicely presented. It's ideal for children, even with a small video library. We would recommend it to friends and stay again.
House very well equipped for children, with games, toys and videos for the odd "rainy" hour.
A very spacious property - well equipped for a large group.
A peaceful setting, but not isolated - easy access to main routes, the village, pubs etc. The house was comfortable and there was plenty of space for everyone. The owners were very approachable. A Lovely part of the country.
An excellent place to stay - plenty of room and great for children as the garden has a slide and climbing frame. There are two family friendly pubs within walking distance.
The house was just so well equipped and had games and was very child friendly.
I would like to say that we all had a lovely time at this property, and whilst the weather was rotten outside (sleet and some snow) we were very comfortable and snug inside!
Plenty to do locally without having to drive far, if at all.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. We liked the holidays at Laurel Bank Cottage very, very much! It is really excellent!
The kids loved the trampoline in the garden. It was a spacious property with plenty of videos and DVDs for kids to watch in the evenings.
The owners were extremely helpful. The property was great and in a very good location and very well equipped.
A great location for visiting the attractions within the dales.
This was a perfect holiday house for all our family to meet up at Christmas. There were 7 adults and 5 children - we did a full christmas dinner and nothing was missing from the kitchen. There was ample space for all the children to run around and not get under our feet. Shop and pub on the doorstep - and a steam railway with a Santa special for the children! We couldn't have asked for a better property.
The accommodation was very spacious & well equipped, clean & very comfortable.
We were able to enjoy a family Christmas for 12 with all the comfort of home.
It was the best Christmas break ever. I Would highly recommend this property, it is nice & close to Skipton for the market & last minute shopping and to the hills for walking.
The house was great. We loved that it was nice and spacious. The big lounge was especially good.
The place was great, the village a delight and Skipton revealed hitherto unplumbed depths.
Very comfortable accommodation, great for a family get together.
Excellent views, ideally situated for touring Yorkshire Dales. The cottage was very spacious, with plenty of parking for 6 cars. Owners were very friendly and helpful.
Excellent property situated in a fantastic area. Enjoyed a four generation family diamond wedding celebration, guests ranging from 18 months to 85 years old!
This is the second year we've been to Laurel bank, testimony to how much we like it. There is ample room within, the garden and patio are lovely, and there are great walks to go on from the cottage.
We especially liked the fact that we felt very welcome with our little children! The cottage is ideal for a family holiday, is beautifully situated and very well equipped, we could not have asked for more!!!
Excellent accomadation for our needs. Plenty of room, well equipped, (loved the lounge) and in a great location for walking. Two pubs and a shop in the village (all very friendly) made for a very relaxing holiday.
Although it was attached to the owners house there was complete privacy in house and garden. We were there for husband's 60th with family and friends and he said it was the best birthday ever. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, including a wine cooler. Would love to go back.
The access roads made it very easy to get to Skipton and the attraction in the Dales quickly.Good walks to the moors from the house
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was ideal for the Grandchildren.
Large, comfortable, roomy house for big family get together. Very convenient and adequate accommodation.
Lovely spacious house in a beautiful area. Village had all the basics and the excellent amenities of Skipton are nearby.
This is an excellent property for a large family gathering or a group of friends. The owners really have thought of everything. The property is extremely well equipped and we were especially glad of the stair gates, basket of toys etc. The position of this property is excellent for touring and walking in the Dales; also very close to Skipton.
Well equipped cottage for 12, loads of space. Excellent location in every way, would go back.
Short walk from Embsay Railway Station to catch steam train to Bolton Abbey. Great for family get-togethers.
The cottage was very quiet and felt private even though it joined on to the owners' house. The upstairs sitting room was lovely - very large and comfortable with great views. You can continue driving along the pretty
country road the cottage is on all the way to Bolton Abbey.
The location of the cottage both in terms of the views from the cottage and the proximity to the Dales and all its attractions.
Brilliant for family gatherings. 2 pubs nearby serve excellent food. Train to Bolton Abbey; great walk from station to Bolton Abbey with brilliant pub on the way. We had a fantastic weekend break with all the family. Excellent!
The property was very spacious so the nine of us didn't get in each others way. A super, large, comfy lounge with plenty of seating. All beds were comfy. Lovely and warm. Felt very welcome there.
The venue was great for a large party. There were lots of extra useful items available in the kitchen; we weren't short of anything. It was a great location. The owners even left us a tin of Quality Street - very nice touch. The availability of a wide range of books and games was great.
We had a very good holiday at Laurel Bank Cottage.
Lovely house in great location. Really friendly and helpful owners. Kitchen, dining and lounge facilities were plenty big enough for large group. [We were a family of 11 adults.] Everything you needed and nothing you didn't.
The location was lovely even though it rained the whole week! There was so much to see. Booking the holiday was very simple and the owners could not have been more helpful. Lovely relaxing week with great scenery.
The outside BBQ area was very nice indeed and the large lounge was perfect for our needs.
A lovely place, situated in a lovely village close to lots of places of interest. The sitting room was brilliant for our large party, loads of room for the kids to play on a rainy weekend and lots of comfortable sofas. The biscuits on arrival were a lovely touch and the selection of games, books and DVD's a very pleasant surprise.
Good value, the owners were helpful, the property is a very good size for a big group. The lounge and kitchen areas were very nice.
Very peaceful and within walking distance of Skipton.
The location was superb, great views and the accommodation was very spacious. First class!
The location was really good and the kitchen was very well stocked and all the boardgames and books went down well too. The lovely welcome, biscuits and supply of tea, coffee and milk in the fridge were nice touches.
All in all we had an excellent week and would recommend Laurel Bank and Embsay as a great place to stay.
Good, large property. Excellent location, pubs and general surroundings.
Superb accommodation in delightful setting. The Yorkshire Dales have a lot to offer the discerning tourist. The property we rented was economic, spacious and very well equipped. The owners provided extras which were much appreciated. Set amongst views of hills to each side of the cottage and within a small village which boasted an excellent pub serving good food but only a short distance from Skipton which had all amenities. We tried two restaurants- one Russian the other Italian both well worth a visit.
Great property with helpful and unobtrusive owners.
A lovely cottage in a great location for walks.
Laurel Bank was perfect for our family, there was a lot of us but we could all sit together in the lounge in the evenings and plenty of room at the dining table for all of us. We felt comfy in the property not having to worry to much of things being spoilt with two little ones running round. Good location for lots of attractions so overall a good holiday break. Thank-you
The size of the house allowed us to go away with all the family and our dogs. The elm tree pub serviced a lovely reasonably priced meal! Everything we needed had been thought of.
We liked everything.
The cottage is ideal for family groups with children and it is well furnished and equipped. Embsay is a very pleasant village with good pubs that do food and there are plenty of walks that can be accessed from the cottage. There is plenty to do round about. The children particularly enjoyed a petting farm and an ice cream parlour. Two teenagers and two mums enjoyed a train ride and an amazing shopping trip to Leeds.
Good location, good weather, good company. Plenty on space and excellent communal space to enjoy it in. The cottage was really nicely set up for a group including small children with plastic plates, cot, high-chair, stair-gates, plenty of toys, books, DVDs and jigsaws and a field of sheep and chickens outside that provided hours of entertainment.
Lovely cottage, in a lovely place. Loved the surrounding scenery and countryside. Short drive to Skipton, castle and canal, which we visited and had a canal boat ride. Very near to Embsay steam railway, which we went on. Went to Elm Tree pub, locals very friendly and welcoming. Would love to stay there again.
The house was excellent for a large group and our family found the facilities to be appropriate for our needs. The location is perfect for touring the area with many places to visit and things to do nearby without too much driving. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would go back without hesitation.
We loved staying at Laurel Bank. Three generations, including a branch of our family who live in the village, (and a small dog!) enjoyed a week of multiple birthday/anniversary celebrations. With lots of space and a really lovely garden, we had plenty of room to spread out and everybody could do their own thing. We know the area well because of the family connection, but walking to the shop two minutes away, for milk and newspapers in the morning, hearing the cricket played each evening just across the lane, and walking to the local pub added to the stay.
Definitely satisfied with the property, especially the outdoor decking and barbecue area. Situation in Embsay was delightful with plenty of local walks including the Crag. Local amenities in Skipton were varied and excellent for dining out. Countryside was superb - visited the castle, Bolton Abbey, Malham, steam train and canal boat trip.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was very spacious for our party which consisted of 4 adults and 5 children, there was a large garden area for the children to play in. The residents were friendly and approachable, all local pubs very welcoming and nice food, trips to the local farms and 'Billy Bobs Ice Cream Parlour' recommended for young kids. Would also recommend the railway to Bolton Abbey.
We have an annual family get together, travelling as far afield as from Brazil and Croatia. Last year we stayed in Buxton at a lovely house and we were lucky again this year with our choice. The cottage, we were pleasantly surprised, being much brighter and better in real life than as portrayed in the web photographs. We never met the owners but they left a lovely family-sized box of favourite Thornton chocolates as a welcome present, which was a nice touch. And when we all decamped earlier than expected leaving a dishwasher in action it was not a problem. A family steam trip on the Embassy railway (but don't try walking to Bolton Abbey at the other end with a pram or/and a dodgy knee) plus Skipton Castle, Malham Cove and Bronte Country, which were all visited and enjoyed. All together there was lovely countryside and friendly locals; you would expect nothing less in 'Gods Own Country'!
The house is ideal for our large extended family and is well equipped with all we needed. The owners are very helpful and pleasant. There are loads of places and things to do round and about There are good walks straight from the Cottage onto the fells.
The property was welcoming and the owner was friendly and helpful. The week we spent as a family could not have been better.
We had space for all our family and having good weather the young children had a safe garden to play in. The welcome chocolates and milk in the fridge were great. The large dining table that we could all sit round was perfect. We all felt very relaxed because the house was family friendly and a very nice place to be. The countryside around is beautiful with plenty of places to explore.
