Wish I Could Live There!!!

My Hubby & I have just returned from a lovely weeks stay in Herons Reach with 3 of our small Grandchildren - we had almost perfect weather - and we could have spent almost everyday at the cottage it was such a perfect location!! - situated just below a magnificent Viaduct, what a fascinating structure! there is a lovely green area right outside the door where we had picnics, played games, fed the ducks or just sat out chatting to neighbouring guests & enjoying a glass of wine & waving to pleasure cruisers & steam trains passing buy. We spent lovely evenings catchin crabs with our little crabbing net, from the river just at the other side of the green we caught 16 one evening!! - then watched them run back down the slipway when we let them go. The cottage was very clean, very well equiped, & lovely comfy beds - it was a nice walk into whitby about 30 minutes with 3,4,& 7 year olds in tow & yes the bank is steep getting out of the site but really good excersise to burn of the fish & chips!!. - the first reviewer mentioned the swiming pool on site, but disapointingly, it is only for some of the other cottages!! - (a small shop on site would be good or a mobile shop) as it is a drive to the nearest shop if the milk runs out. This holiday was a very nice change from our normal Holidays abroad - & would love to do it again!!! :-))

A great relaxing holiday in a lovely location.

W e had a great time at the cottage, it is peaceful and quite with the exception of the odd steam engine that thunders bye on the track on the far side of the river, and who is going to complain about a sight like that.
We had ducks and swans right outside our cottage door looking for some treats or scraps they were very friendly.
There is also a small heated indoor swimming pool that was always in use.
The only downside to the site is that there is very steep hill to go up if you are walking out of the site, it is a strain on the legs and gets your heart pumping but who cares your on holiday after all.

Stylish and captivating

This little town house was in an ideal position in a quiet area beside a viaduct and river where you could fish or catch crabs if you wished to do so.
The house itself was nicely decorated and furnished and had everything there that we needed for our stay. We enjoyed feeding the ducks every day although we never seemed to satisfy them!
It took us about 25 minutes to walk along the Cinder path into Whitby.

Everything we wanted in a holiday home.

Been to Herons Reach twice & both times we really enjoyed it. Everything you need is in the house. Near enough to walk to Whitby plus we found some more good walks this time. Enjoyed watching for seals in the river & saw them twice. Nice clean, quiet & relaxing place. Highly recommended. Will return.

Lovely cottage. Perfect location.

A lovely cottage facing the river Esk with beautiful views. The cottage is lovely and clean and well kept. Everything you need for a holiday is here.
The location is great if you like to get out and walk. Locatated a short distance form the cinder track, you have the walk over the viaduct to the heart of the town and in the other direction takes you to Robin Hoods Bay. A beautiful place to stay, wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Fabulous location and great that I was able to take my dog. Very comfortable, well equipped cottage. The cottage was within walking distance of Whitby, which avoided the heavy traffic over the bank holiday weekend. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Mrs Claxton

It was everything I expected and more.
It had everything for both young and old, there were plenty of happy looking dogs as well! I would recommend it to anyone.

Mr Foote

Herons Reach is in an idyllic and secluded situation overlooking the riverbank and within easy reach of Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors. A lovely cottage and a great base for a holiday.

Mr Heath

Excellent location - Great for accessing the area and lovely views.

Mr Lees

The location of the cottage was great, easy to walk into Whitby Town centre, walking along the old railway viaduct, even when pushing a pram, about 15-20mins walk. The owners were very helpful. As for Whitby itself - a lovely seaside town, there was lots to do whatever the weather. There where plenty of lovely restaurants who were very accommodating with dietary needs.

Mr Privett

We had a great week at Herons Reach. The cottage had all that we wanted - a good kitchen, plenty of living room space and sky tv plus sky radio. The main bedroom was excellent and very spacious. The morning visits from the local ducks and swans at our door was a pleasant surprise.

Mr Hunt

Good peaceful location and very well situated for visiting the surrounding area. We had a very good, restful week.

Mr Gale

The location of the cottage, being under the Viaduct and beside the river, the grandkids loved fishing for crabs! There was a lovely green area in front of the cottage, it was very peaceful and it was a fairly easy walk into Whitby.

Mr Moss

The area was lovely and quiet with gorgeous scenery wherever you looked. Both of my sons loved crabbing on the river Esk and I enjoyed walking on the viaduct to get into Whitby.

Mrs Pears

Picturesque location. River and viaduct combined to make a spectacular setting. The steam trains were an added bonus!

Mr Walker

Though we had a couple of days of horrific weather, we never felt confined in our cottage, as it was very comfortable, so we still had a lovely time.

Mrs Schofield

The view from the window was lovely. It was very relaxing as we work 7 days a week 49 weeks a year, and to book as late as we did as we were let down on our original holiday. It was very stress free, loved every minute of it, and it was so good of the owners to let us take our 3 dogs, thanks again.

Ms WIlls

The location and the cottage itself were excellent, could not have asked for better. We will book this one again later in year.

Mrs Male

Mr Geddes

Mrs Moss

The location is fantastic as well as the cottage.

Mr Stanley

A lovely well positioned property with a river at the front. Were able to see the trains as well as the ducks and rabbits all around. The property was well equipped, had great bedding which was nice, soft and comfortable. Comfort was great in the living room, had a great TV package as well. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you needed, the washer and dryer were a great bonus. Ideal for a lazy holiday or for walking, train and nature lovers. Will book again with no hesitation.

Mrs Trevor

The property was in a very quiet, nice location giving easy access to Whitby harbour and the surrounding area. There were lots of local wildlife to see and we especially liked the pleasant walk into Whitby along the Cinder Track.

Mr Martin

Excellent Cottage in beautiful surroundings would recommend to anybody.

Mr Renshaw

The cottage was lovely and in a good location, clean warm and comfortable, home from home and we felt very relaxed. It was as others said a 15 to 20 minute walk along the cinder path to Whitby and in the opposite direction a 6 mile walk into Robin Hood Bay, we enjoyed all the walks particularly the Whitby circular walk. We had not been to Whitby before and really loved it and hope to return in the future.

Mrs Brown

We really liked the balcony and the views. The property was comfortable and had every thing needed for 2 adults.
