White Goose Cottage is a modern, mid mews waterside holiday cottage in an elevated position above the River Esk on the outskirts of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. Boasting one double bedroom with a sofa bed and one single room (with a pull out bed) as well as a family bathroom, this cottage can sleep up to four people. The double bedroom of this Whitby cottage has sliding doors to another room with a sprung-mattress sofa bed and an outside balcony - a lovely place to sit and watch the wildlife on the river and spot the steam trains going by. There are communal lawned grounds outside this Whitby cottage, reaching down to the river, where seals, swans and ducks are regular visitors! The property also has use of a boat ramp.
Although conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle, Whitby's centre is just a short walk from this coastal cottage, great to explore the cobbled streets, stroll on the beaches, visit the famous abbey and sample the many bars and restaurants. The surrounding area has a wealth of attractions, including the stunning scenery of the North York Moors, tea rooms in pretty coastal villages, and trips on the steam train to name but a few. The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.

The cottage was spacious, clean and light with very good amenities. The location was excellent, next to the tidal river and viaduct with the steam train regularly going by. A really lovely base to come back to. Particularly liked the balcony from the main bedroom.
by Mrs Whittaker on January 3rd 2015
The cottage was lovely, very clean and comfortable. If you have a dog there are some great walks, there is a cinder track which from the location of the cottage you can walk to Whitby in one direction and Scarborough.
by Mr Wragg on December 2nd 2014
Liked the fact that the cottage had river views from all front windows and the balcony. The cottage was really clean and in a wonderful position right next to the River Esk and under railway viaduct. The wildlife around the area is brilliant - we saw a seal every morning and a heron, and the ducks come straight up to the front door. Sky TV was a bonus.

The cottage is in a lovely location, it is well equipped and clean and tidy.

It was a lovely cosy property to rent for the week. Only 5 minutes from Whitby itself, but whilst there at the cottage, it was very idyllic, by a river, quite countrified, ducks and geese wandering around, very relaxing.
by Mrs Kemp on July 7th 2014
The accommodation was exceptional, well equipped and spotless. The outside was kept clean, grass mown; all immaculate. Of course the weather helped!
by Miss Thompson on June 9th 2014
This is the second time we've been to White Goose Cottage, in fact this time was our honeymoon. It is beautiful where the cottage is positioned and only a short stroll into Whitby. We take our dog with us and she loves it too.
by Mr Anderson on November 5th 2013
A cosy, well appointed cottage in a beautiful location, with easy access to Whitby.

Lovely cottage by A FlipKey verified reviewer on August 24th 2013
Really enjoyed our stay! Lovely little cottage with all essentials for a self catering stay! Only negative thing is that previous occupants had used dishwasher and cutlery and crockery weren't very clean so hand washed them before use! Positive - everything else! Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again and recommend!

Well maintained and clean property. Accurately described. Well positioned for a quiet relaxing break, but close enough to the town of Whitby for the able to walk.
by Mrs Cuppelditch on May 29th 2013

Nice settings but property average. by A Holiday Lettings verified reviewer on October 8th 2012
Scenery nice and setting good, but upstairs floors creaked and bathroom poor, plus the dryer did not work.
by Mr Isherwood on October 1st 2012
It was a nostalgic trip back to an area we used to live in. Enjoyed walking into Whitby along the cinder track and being able to look out onto the river.

The property is in a good location with parking, and is close to the town centre and areas of interest that are to be explored in locations nearby.

Our second year at this cottage, again not disappointed and really love the area. We actually saw the seal this year! Even though the weather was not so good for June the cottage kept us very warm.
Lovely peaceful location by manchesterpuddin on February 27th 2012
This is a lovely cottage, it is very well equipt and is in a beautiful location. We were able on most days to walk into Whitby over the old disused railway line which took us around 20 to 30 minutes. The cottage is right on the river Esk and has friendly ducks who come to see you at the door for feeding, and there is of course a Goose who also comes right up to you. We are looking to book this cottage again this year and would not hesitate to reccommend it to others. We would reccommend Mr Chips for you supper in Whitby really good, and the pie and mash cafe opposite
by Mrs Crabtree on November 8th 2011
The location is lovely, right on the River Esk. We could walk into Whitby along the viaduct and disused railway line which took about 30 minutes. The property was well equipped, even with Sky plus TV which was a real bonus, and very comfy furniture. We had visits everyday from the local ducks. I would recommend this property to friends and family.
Delightful location by A FlipKey verified reviewer on October 20th 2011
A very comfortable and superbly equipped cottage that also offered excellent value for money. It was a delight to have a cottage in such a quiet and picturesque location with parking yet within walking distance of the centre of Whitby.
by Mr Mellowes on September 5th 2011
A spectacular riverside location, being able to walk into Whitby while passing steam trains and cheeky ducks. The cottage was well-equipped.
by Miss Holt on July 26th 2011
We were pleasantly surprised by the proximity of White Goose Cottage to the river, old viaduct and the daily steam trains passing by. Very relaxing location with an abundance of local wildlife - regular daily visits at feeding time from the resident ducks! Excellent base for exploring Whitby and surrounding area. Would definitely recommend visiting this area of Yorkshire and hope to return.
by Mrs Newstead on June 22nd 2011
A great location in close proximity to the river and wildlife, with several owls heard during the night and one sighting of a seal in the river at high tide! Great weather, peaceful break.
by Mr Nsofor on March 14th 2011
Excellent location, great views, tidy property. I will recommend this place to friends and family.
