Pembrokeshire Beaches are magnificent, with more than 50 of them strung out along the West Wales coast. These range from broad swathes of clean golden sand backed by dunes, such as Broad Haven and Barafundle Bay, to tiny coves cut into the cliffs, such as Church Doors Cove near Manorbier and Stackpole Quay. The beaches boast an exceptional hoard of awards from Blue Flags, Green Coast and Seaside Awards. If you want to do more than stretch out on the beach and dip your toes in the waves, there are plenty of opportunities for coasteering and kayaking. Why not go on a seal and dolphin spotting trip? Available at places like Tenby and Martins Haven (which also offers boat trips to the Pembrokeshire Islands). Away from the coast, there are plenty of other attractions to visit, from ancient castles and strongholds such as the Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, once a Tudor stronghold and mansion near Tenby. From the ruins of Pembroke Castle to a restored World War II control tower at Carew Cheriton, plenty of historic castles and buildings are open to visitors. Even a tiny hermits cell is built into a cliff at St. Govan’s Head to ensure fascinating days out for lovers of history and historic architecture. If you’ve got some younger children in tow, don’t miss the Teddybear Workshop in Haverford West, where you can help them make their own teddy bear to take home. Petrolheads will enjoy a visit to the Pembrokeshire Motor Museum, which features a range of veteran, vintage and classic cars.
