Set amidst the splendour of Exmoor National Park in the beautiful Avill Valley, Bossington Cottage makes a charming family holiday cottage near Dunster, Somerset. This pet-friendly cottage is part of a nine-acre complex of countryside cottages between Dunster and Timberscombe along the edge of the national park boundary.
Bossington Cottage occupies the central part of The West Barn, a former stone barn on the grounds, with a courtyard entrance that gets the morning sun and offers excellent views over the cottages and adjoining field. A second entrance on the main car park side is via an enclosed patio garden.
Entering from the courtyard takes you straight into the well-equipped kitchen of this coastal cottage, with the open-plan lounge and dining area off to the right. The sitting area features two sofas and flatscreen TV with DVD player. The staircase in the far corner of the lounge leads to the first floor, with a double and twin bedroom to sleep up to four guests and the shower room.
Bossington Cottage has a furnished patio-style garden, whilst the grounds feature picnic areas, a safe river for paddling, and a paddock where one can often see the owner’s Shetland ponies, Freddie and Phoenix, grazing.
The cottage also shares a hard tennis court, indoor heated pool and spa bath, play paddock, large trampoline, and games room with pool table, table tennis, and table football. Gate Lodge Play Centre is a two-storey playhouse with swings, slide, fireman’s pole, and assault course.
Nearby Dunster features its well-known castle towering over the medieval village, whilst the beaches at Minehead and Blue Anchor beckon. Golfers can enjoy a round at Minehead & West Somerset Golf Club, Somerset’s oldest golf club still playing its original course, whilst nature lovers can bask exploring the many Exmoor walking trails through the park.
