Situated in a quiet spot at the foot of Hawkcombe overlooking the coastal village of Porlock, Somerset, Woodside Cottage makes the perfect holiday home for families and small groups looking to explore the Exmoor coast.
This semi-detached dog-friendly cottage underwent refurbishment several years ago to give Woodside Cottage a modern yet homely feel. The access road to the cottage becomes a bridleway that leads to the top of Hawkcombe Head, offering panoramic views of the surrounding moors.
The ground floor of this characterful coastal cottage features two sitting rooms, one with wood-burning stove and a second accessed by a small staircase with TV and doors leading to the courtyard garden. The well-equipped kitchen features oak units and a Belfast sink, whilst the dining room also opens onto the patio.
Climb a narrow and fairly steep staircase to the first floor with two bedrooms, a double and a triple bunk bedroom with hand basin.
The courtyard and patio area features a small table and chairs to dine al fresco. A spacious shed can store bicycles or other outdoor equipment for exploring the countryside, and a second boot room includes washing machine, internal washing line, and clothes airer.
Woodside Cottage is within walking distance of Porlock, sheltered by picturesque hills within Exmoor National Park. Two miles away lies the harbour town of Porlock Weir and its pebble and rock beach, whilst the resort town of Minehead six miles away features a 14th-century church with its much-photographed Church Steps, sandy beaches, and a links golf course founded in 1882.
