South Patchole Farm Cottage is a pretty 4 bed holiday cottage, just inland from the North Devon coast. It is tucked away up a quiet country road in the hamlet of Patchole in Kentisbury and just 3 miles from Combe Martin, a lively North Devon seaside village with good pubs, restaurants, village bakery and small shops.
Kentisbury has a small garage with village shop and local pub,The Old Station Inn.Only a few miles away is Kentisbury Grange and the award winning restaurant, The Coach House by Michael Cains, which offers award winning fine dinning.
Just a little further along the coast are the busy coastal resorts of Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. Ilfracombe has a Michelin star restaurant The Olive Room and several other excellent restaurants and pubs as well as a small private beach - Tunnels beach. Ilfracombe is also an embarkation point for fishing trips and day-trips to Lundy Island.
Woolacombe is well known for its amazing long sandy beach which stretches for 3 miles with Putsborough beach at the far end of Woolacombe Bay. Croyde village is just around the headland from Putsborough where there is a stunning coastal walk around Baggy Point. In Croyde enjoy a great meal and well deserved pint at the famous Thatched pub where you will often find a celebrity enjoying a quiet pint in the Summer.
Exmoor Zoo is just up the road and The Combe Martin Dinosaur and Wildlife Park is a couple of miles away. For those looking for a more challenging walk the wilds of Exmoor are 15 minutes away, along with golf courses, fishing and leisure facilities.
The cottage has loads of original features with slate floors, exposed wood beams and wood panelled walls. There are 4 bedrooms on the first floor comprising of a large four-poster double, another double, a bunk room and a triple single bedroom. There is a modern family bathroom with bath, WC and sink and a separate shower room.
Downstairs there is a large farmhouse kitchen with original slate flooring and beams, with electric cooker, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and table to seat 9. The lounge has comfortable leather sofas, TV, DVD, video, radio and wood-burner (first basket of logs free).
Outside there is a very pretty large walled garden with table and chairs and BBQ whilst you relax we have a play-house and swing to entertain the children. Guests are also welcome to explore the fields of the working farm - with over 100 acres, there is plenty to enjoy, see the lambs in the Spring and the working dogs plus the unique Ruby Red Devon cows and calves. Also discover the streams, ponies, natural wildlife and birds plus much more. There are also numerous countryside walks right on your doorstep.
Unfortunately as it's a working farm there can be no pets. There is WiFi in the house but because of Patchole's deep rural location, it is not Superfast. However, with all the beaches, walks and attractions on your doorstep, you are likely to have little need of it!
