Property Details

Situated in a tranquil location, this large, charming, detached period farmhouse is set on a non-working farm down a private road, surrounded by glorious South Yorkshire countryside, on the outskirts of the village of Sykehouse.

Set in beautiful rural countryside within very secluded grounds, and offering first-class accommodation, this cottage is tastefully furnished and styled while retaining its original character and charm, featuring beamed ceilings and impressive fireplaces, perfect for large family gatherings.

With plenty of space to spread out, this cottage in South Yorkshire offers eight bedrooms set over three floors, likely to suit all family needs.

A wonderful beamed double room features an integral shower cubicle and basin and a sofa in a mezzanine area.

There is a family bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, three twin rooms, one of which is accessed by its own staircase, and a single room.

In the eaves on the third level, there are two double rooms and a single bed on the large landing.

The first floor family bathroom features a deep, freestanding, roll-top bath, and there is also a bathroom on the ground floor which is next to the twin bedroom and is ideal for less mobile guests.

The spacious, well-equipped farmhouse kitchen, with its granite worktops, double Belfast sink, and double cooker, is perfect for social gatherings.

Sit and enjoy delicious family meals together around the huge dining table in the kitchen before retiring to one of the two sitting rooms, each featuring a cosy woodburning stove creating a warm and welcoming ambience.

Outside, extensive private gardens offer panoramic views over open countryside.

Light the barbecue and enjoy alfresco dining in the warm summer sunshine, before ending the evening with a dip in the bubbling hot tub to really relax and soothe the soul.

Take an easy stroll through the orchard and farm fields or along the nearby canal bank, and take the kids to meet the owners’ alpacas in the nearby paddock!

There is wonderful fishing just a mile away, at the popular Sykehouse Fisheries with competitions all year round.

They will even break the ice for you in the winter!

A good road network allows easy access to the pretty market towns of Yorkshire and the historic city of York, home to the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum.

Take a trip to Hull and visit The Deep, while the seaside towns of Hornsea and Cleethorpes are well worth a visit.

Kids of all ages will delight in spending a day at Xscape with its indoor ski slope, climbing walls and surfing, or maybe have a round of golf at one of the many nearby courses.

A Great Weekend at Swallows Farm by Mr Maloney, Oldham, January 2015 on September 21st 2016

Our extended Family (9 adults and 5 children under 7) had a great weekend at Swallow Farm. The house was well furnished with plenty of beds and bedroom space. The biggest bonus was the hot tub, the children and some of the adults could not get enough of it. The owner and manager were helpful but not intrusive. Would definitely use it again
