Peak District Barn Conversion: a wonderful holiday retreat, stylish and architectural, yet comfy and a real home. We stayed at High Ridge Barn during five days in august, 2018. It is a surprisingly complete and very well designed cottage with plenty of room for eight people; three bathrooms; a very complete kitchen, open plan with dining area with superb views. All a fine combination of fresh and tasteful modern design and functionality with warm features such as sumptuous sofa's, pillows, beautiful oak flooring, luxuriously large and comfortable beds and exquisite decoration. All high end but tastefully done and non-intrusive. The owners are very kind and really made us feel most welcome. In the outside area the views of the wonderful Peak district continue; it allows for perfect breakfasts in the morning sun and al fresco dining. A fine bbq, a sauna, a large terrace, a lawn with the possibility to improve one's golf swings. Walks into the surrounding countryside start at the doorstep. Although we did not bring a pet ourselves, we could see dogs are very welcome, based on e.g. special amenities for them and the enthusiasm the owners displayed in this respect. The house is very clean and contains everything one could wish for. Pleasant surprises were the extremely fast wifi, the continuous hot water supply and details such as boot heating in the entrance/cloakroom. A splendid extra after long autumn and winter walks we imagined. Buxton is nearby, a wonderful town with a.so an opera house an fine independent shops. Furthermore some very nice restaurants(the owners know the area and are happy to inform you about the possibilities). A perfect base to explore and enjoy The Peak District and to relax! We certainly recommend High Ridge Barn to others and plan to come back to it.

The Barn is a converted 19th Century double-height hay store in the local pink stone with exposed oak beams, and new solid oak floors and doors throughout. A new contemporary kitchen with NEFF appliances opens out to the vast living room where you can enjoy the wonderful views from the comfort of velvet sofas. We are pleased to have superfast broadband with 80mbps speeds, and there is good mobile phone signal from most providers.
2 of the 4 double bedrooms can be made up with comfortable large twins or super king size beds, and there are 3 bathrooms - 2 of which are ensuite.
The private secure gardens cover half an acre, and there is a Scandi wood burning sauna and hot/cold shower pod to relax in after those wonderful walks in the surrounding Peak District countryside. Boot dryers are provided so damp boots can dry overnight. As well as being dog-friendly, Dogs can be pampered too! Why not try the dog grooming cabin with electric lift professional dog bath and shower, and then fluff them up with the special dog hair dryer.
The large York stone terrace with bespoke wooden dining table and benches has fantastic views, and you can enjoy cooking your favourite foods on the Landmann Chef charcoal BBQ.
There are many rural walks on the doorstep - the Roaches are nearby for impressive views as is Pannier Pool at Three Shires Head, and if you fancy a bit of a climb Shutslingsloe is a short drive away. The area is also blessed with many flat trails perfect for less strenuous walks. Cyclists will enjoy the quiet roads through spectacular scenery.
There is secure parking for bikes, and parking for 4 cars.
We think this is the best place we have ever stayed in.

We think this is the best place we have ever stayed in. Everything has been thought of. The garden was private and large and has beautiful views across the fields. We were also able to walk from the Barn to various places including The Roaches. We visited the Winkle Brewery which was great too. The bedrooms are really comfortable and clean. The bathroom with the freestanding bath is so luxurious. You feel like you are in a five star hotel. We loved using the wood burning stove when needed and all the tools were there too. Rob and Rosie were on hand anytime but yet we did not feel too close by, in the way they have designed the barn. Very private. And good wifi as promised, which is not always the case. Would definitely return.
We'll be back!

We enjoyed a fantastic few days at High Ridge in early summer. Although it’s easy to reach, the area itself is beautiful & quiet, with several good walks nearby, plus others a short drive away. We went along the top of the Roaches - a ridge with far reaching views of the Peak District. The accommodation is outstanding - everything is high quality, spotlessly clean and there isn’t a detail that hasn’t been thought of. Our dog Poppy was equally-well pampered - there are dog bowls, a large pet-proof garden and even a hydraulic dog bath! The Owners Rosie and Rob were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended - we’ll definitely be back!
