Cocketts Holiday Cottage is a beautifully presented Grade II listed holiday home with WiFi in rural Suffolk in the heart of the countryside. Built in the 16th Century by an early Quaker Family, it now blends contemporary comforts with period style.
Whether you are seeking soft relaxing sofas under beamed ceilings in front of a cosy log-burner, or an attic playroom with PS3 and traditional toys, then this cottage will prove a delight to all families, and their pets who are also welcome.
The lounge boasts an inglenook fireplace with woodburner, promising warmth and comfort on cold winter evenings. There is a TV with DVD, books and games. The kitchen is well equipped with full-height fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer (in a separate utility room), dishwasher, double electric oven and a big no-nonsense farmhouse pine table for 8. Also on the ground floor is a shower room with WC and basin.
On the first floor are two bedrooms: a double with king-size bed, another that can be made up as a king-size bed or two 2ft 6" singles. Also on this floor is the family bathroom with bath and power shower over. On the landing very young ones will no doubt be attracted to Brandy, the resident rocking horse.
There is an attic playden, with TV, PS3, Duplo and Brio, that has futons for 3. Through this room, leads to the vaulted, beamed twin room with wonky original oak floor.
Step outside the back door into a small secure fenced garden; safe for the youngest children and pets. There is a patio with wooden table and chairs for dining out, whilst the little ones play in the play house and with outdoor toys. Beyond the gate there is an acre of garden including an old orchard, large pond and tree swing. The lawns are large enough for ball games and Frisbee. In season, guests are welcome to relieve the fruit trees of delicious apples, plums, quince and walnuts. Beyond the garden hedge, dogs will be delighted to discover the range of country walks in the area, while the flat, gently undulating countryside will appeal to those looking for a rural cycling holiday. There are friendly pygmy goats and poultry who are always happy to receive attention and little tid-bits.
Hard as it may feel to leave the house, venturing further afield there are plenty of places to discover in this picturesque corner of Suffolk which abounds with pretty little villages and the glorious heritage coastline. The historic attractions of Norwich, Cambridge and Bury St. Edmunds are within easy reach and there are many good pubs and restaurants for meals out.
The owners live next door, and can be on hand if needed for anything from day out ideas to replacement lightbulbs but suitably distant and discreet to be out of sight and mind at all other times.
If it is a memorable family holiday, or a convivial gathering with friends you are looking for, then Cocketts Holiday Cottage near Stowmarket will provide a welcome home-from-home location for a happy self-catering holiday in Suffolk.
