Rock Lobster is a modern, cosy seaside cottage at Camber Sands near Rye. Just a few minutes walk from the dunes and miles of sandy beach makes it the ideal retreat for families holidaying with small children and dogs, as well as couples and friends.
The kitchen is well equipped with quality pans and sharp knives and the dining table seats 4 comfortably. In fine weather guests enjoy cooking on the Weber gas barbecue and dining al fresco in the sunny fenced garden.
The comfortable lounge with its sumptuous leather sofa and chairs opens out onto the garden which makes it a lovely room in which to relax and watch a film or listen to music. You will also find a selection of games in the cupboard.
A holiday is not a holiday without a good night’s sleep and you’ll love our luxurious beds. Both bedrooms have zip-and-link kingsize beds that can be split into singles, you choose. Whatever your choice you can look forward to crisp hotel quality white bed linen, fluffy white towels and complimentary Sea Kelp toiletries. We have also thought carefully about our younger guests, we have bed guards and cots which can be provided ready for your arrival.
In fact Rock Lobster is truly family friendly and is equipped with not only cots and high chairs, but also stair gates top and bottom, steam steriliser, changing mat, baby monitor, socket covers, cupboard locks in the kitchen and more. We can easily cater for twins with two of everything.
The cottage is within a short walk of a couple of nice restaurants including The Gallivant Bistro, The Dunes Bar and The Rye Bay Cafe. The local pub, The Green Owl, also serves excellent home cooked meals and a good selection of well kept ales and welcomes children and dogs. There are a couple of small grocery stores in Camber and an excellent farm shop at Salts Farm two miles away.
There is a lot to do in the area too. The medieval town of Rye, with its cobbled streets and ancient buildings is only 3 miles away and can be reached easily by car or bike along a largely traffic-free cycle path. Once the haunt of smugglers Rye's streets are now lined with lovely independent shops, tea rooms and inns.
Those with an interest in history will enjoy visiting some of the many interesting castles and historic buildings within a short drive of the cottage including Bodiam Castle, Hastings Castle, Camber Castle and Battle Abbey. There are also many lovely gardens in the area including Great Dixter, Pashley Manor, Sissinghurst Castle, Merriments and Derek Jarman's unique coastal garden.
Families enjoy visiting the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway or the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, Port Lympe Wildlife Park, Hastings Aquarium and the Smugglers Adventure.
