The attractive market town of Bewdley, once described as "the most perfect Georgian town in Worcestershire", sits on the banks of the River Severn, and is close to the medieval Wyre Forest, with its many walks and cycle trails. Bewdley offers much to delight visitors, with a good choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants along the riverside, many tiny shops, antique and craft galleries, and all surrounded by beautiful countryside with gentle rolling hills, steep wooded valleys and meandering rivers offering many opportunities to discover a rich diversity of wildlife.
The area has some of the best attractions in the country, with the Severn Valley Steam Railway, West Midlands Safari Park, numerous National Trust properties and many colourful events throughout the year, including riverside festivals and regattas, open air concerts and family activities. Something for everyone!

What a nice cabin overlooking the wyre forest. We were blessed with good weather. So nice we would have liked to stay longer but it is booked up

Our second time there as we love the cottage and location. Very peaceful and there is a homely feel to the cottage.

Hillary Cottage was in a beautiful setting, the view from our balcony was so pretty. We found the property very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The situation of the cottage was ideal for exploring the area, would highly recommend.
by Mr Shakespeare on February 24th 2015
We found the property to be very clean and generally in very good condition. We found it to be an excellent base for our touring around the area to various family attractions, that were all in very close proximity. We would most definitely recommend the property and will be re-visiting if it's available.

An idyllic spot overlooking the Severn valley. The autumnal colours of the trees were spectacular. The location was nice and handy for Bewdley, Hilary met all our expectations, We will definitely consider this cottage again for further visits to Worcestershire.

by Mr Gosnold on August 19th 2014
We loved the peace and quiet, the views and the surrounding areas. Hilary is an excellent base for those who enjoy history, gardens, riverside walks and teashops! We arrived home feeling relaxed and rested and will be talking about our week for a long time.

Such an 'away from it all' place to chill out. A quiet location and wonderful view, perfect for sitting on the terrace watching the sun set over the forest.
by Ms Turner on April 25th 2014
The location was very peaceful with uninterrupted views of the forest. The balcony is a very nice sun trap. Had a very relaxing stay at this property.
by Mr Smith on December 6th 2013
The situation, being in an area which we were familiar with, so we could visit friends and relations. The forest walks and the railway nearby. We loved being in the middle of a field with other chalets, and the sheep roaming around. The modern kitchen in Hilary and the welcome of the homemade bread and scones were a lovely thought.
by Mrs Harris on October 8th 2013
It was a superb cottage. The setting is so peaceful with a magnificent view across the valley. It was a fabulous break.
by Mrs Morris-Cattell on February 5th 2013

Location good. Property excellent value. Friendly cooperative owners. Much better and spacious than the brochure picture suggests.

Pure "Get away from it all!" by A FlipKey verified reviewer on September 13th 2012
No noisy roads. Fields back and front. Superb views over the distant hills and over the river to the forest. Absolutely pure "Get away from it all". Short distance from Bewdley (which is a beautiful town) Well equipped bungalow with a very welcome "Welcome Pack". Just lovely to sit by the big picture window or at the table on the terrace and just enjoy the peace and quiet and the view (especially if there was a sunset). Hope to return.
by Mrs Dimbleby on July 24th 2012
So peaceful and restful. A complete 'get away from it all' with a wonderful view. It was great sitting on the terrace - a little sun trap - with a glass of wine watching the sunset over the Wyre forest.
Budget accomodation at a budget price by Paul N on July 13th 2012
The access road to this property is at best daunting at worse dangerous a single track 1.8 mile road frequented by some very challenged drivers. On arrival at the accomodation we attempted to reverse onto the sloping, loose shingled so called drive, we got stuck !! and had to wait to be towed off by the owner. Hillary is not a log cabin or a cottage its an extended wooden clad chalet on a site of other chalets. Warm and comfortable with fantastic views from the patio, unfortunately you cant see the river or the railway line as an earlier reviewer stated. It is in need of some TLC and a little too tacky for us. It was very well appointed and had every thing you needed all somewhat dated but at hand nevertheless.
Reasonable enough by TheSimpsonfamily on June 8th 2012
Firstly , we booked this place at the last minute due to forecasted bad weather for our camping trip. Not sure if it is a "cottage" in my sense of the word. It is more a chalet / wooden lodge. It is set at the top of a valley overlooking the Severn steam railway. The setting is very peaceful and although it is not straight forward to get to, that didn't cause us any problems. The chalet was clean , tidy and warm with a very nice Welcome Pack of bread, jam, scones, milk, which is a nice touch. Two good size bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen and dining area and a large lounge give this a cozy feel. There is a nice verandah area at the front of the house and I'm sure when the sun is shining it would be a very nice place to unwind at the end of the day. The only thing I can suggest for improvement really is the "chintzy" carpets, curtains and bedding that is used. That is just an observation not a criticism. Unfortunately for us it rained the majority of the time but this chalet would be a good location for visiting the surrounding area.

Great location with beautiful views. The Cottage was clean, warm, cosy and comfortable. Well equipped with lots of thoughtful touches. The welcome pack was a kind gesture- scones were delicious!
Holiday perfection by alisonsweetman on April 22nd 2012
We have rented cottages all over the British Isles & have to say this was the most comfortable & best appointed one we have yet to find! It had everything we needed & more. The cottage itself sits in a wonderful position above the River Severn, the Severn Valley Railway & views out across the Wyre Forest. The fact that one whole end of the cottage is glass that incorporates these views made it even more special. We were lucky that our week in March had wonderful weather & we were able to make use of the patio doors & balcony that runs the full width of the cottage to take in those views. The welcome pack of homemade scones, homemade jam & marmalade plus all the other essentials was a wonderful surprise. It was amazing to find not only dog bowls, but towels & treats left out for them..never felt so welcome with our dogs. The cottage is set approx 1 1/2 miles from Bewdley..which makes it just perfect. We found it easy to find along a quiet country road & had no issues accessing the cottage itself by road or had any issues with the parking of the car...
Excellent stay, but can you get out? by A FlipKey verified reviewer on March 3rd 2012
General tenure, facilities and condition of the cottage accommodation was excellent, with a good view over the river and railway in a lovely area. It's position must be regarded as remote, though, and it is virtually essential to have the use of a vehicle to access the cottage. The road to it is long and poor and access could be very difficult or impossible in snowy or icy conditions. Also, the driveway of the access road is both steep and of loose grit. This means that some cars will have difficulty, even in good conditions, from getting off the driveway. We had to park on the field above the cottage to avoid being stuck in the drive. This possibility should be advised to prospective users, or the drive should be properly metalled for vehicular access.

Clean comfortable and in ideal location by A FlipKey verified reviewer on August 18th 2011
Upon arrival we were concerned to find it was a chalet and not a cottage as described in brochure but now appreciate that this was new to the brochure at the time of booking and external photograph was not available but upon entry we found it to be clean tidy and well equipped. It is in an ideal location and we would not hesitate to return. [its perfect for a dog]
by Mr Smith on July 20th 2011
