The Dairy is one of three farm cottages skillfully converted from a large 19th-century outbuilding to provide families with a rural holiday on a working farm in North Wales comfortable accommodation near Rossett, North Wales
The pet-friendly cottage sits just six miles from the historic city of Chester, with its medieval city walls and Roman ruins, or take a short drive to picturesque Alyn Waters Country Park or visit Wrexham, the largest city in North Wales.
Situated on a small livestock farm, this rural cottage retains much of the character of its original building, with exposed beams and stripped pine doors. Enjoy fresh milk and eggs at breakfast prepared in a lovely farmhouse kitchen, while the spacious sitting room comes with coal-effect electric fire, double sofa bed and French windows that open onto a private patio. The master bedroom includes an en-suite shower, while two twin bedrooms allow families and groups of up to eight to holiday in comfort.
Guests at The Dairy share access to an indoor games room, an outdoor children’s play area with trampoline, swing, slide and climbing frame, and a lawned garden.
Spacious family accomodation in rural surroundings
This house offers rural peace and quiet whilst being close by car to lots of varied activities within and around the historic city of Chester. The owners provided lots of useful information for those not familiar with the area, and there is something for everyone to do whatever the weather in this region, The swings and large trampoline in the garden were appreciated by my young nephew.
Two of the bedrooms are larger than most - one a double bed ensuite, and one with twin beds - but the third one is a much smaller twin room. The provision of a cot was very helpful. Downstairs has a spacious lounge with plenty of comfy sofas (one sofa bed) and direct access to the patio and garden. The large kitchen diner has room to seat 8 at the table, so the property can easily accommodate large families or extended groups. . Most needs have been considered by the owners - the usual DVD/video/TV package etc, but also books and some games are present and the kitchen is well stocked with equipment, including a high chair. The property was also very clean.
However, during our stay in early May 2010 there were a couple of important reasons why we were all relieved to be staying only 3 nights. The mattresses on all the beds were long past their best and were very uncomfortable. These need to be replaced to bring the accommodation up to the required standard for a comfortable stay. Secondly, two of the bedrooms have velux roof windows with no blinds fitted on them so we were woken far too early by light flooding into the rooms. On a more minor negative note, some of the towels provided were extremely small for the job - one "hand towel" was no bigger than a large facecloth!
Overall, we enjoyed our waking moments in the house, but had difficulties with the sleeping moments, due to the problems listed above. This is a shame, as it marred our experience of an otherwise lovely house. I hope these issues are soon fixed and then all who visit will have a great break I am sure.
relaxing and unrestricted
the cottage was lovely although some of the crockery could do with updating, there were six of us in the party including two young children, who had the run of the garden, the setting in the farm feels open and uncluttered, the owner was on hand had we needed her but was unobtusive the rest of the time. would recommend it for young family who dont mind travelling for shopping and entertainment
A pleasant holiday
A well-equipped cottage. Kitchen, living room and bedrooms all of good quality. Rather cheap shower cubicles and water flow quite inadequate to be able to use the bath
What a wonderful surprise!
Have just returned from a 4 night stay at The Dairy - with hubby, sister-in-law and another friend. Immaculate cottage, excellent facilities, large kitchen, large separate lounge and three lovely sized bedroom, the double having its own en-suite. Bev had left a lovely sponge, milk and other essentials to start our holiday - a really nice touch! Had a lovely time one evening in the separate games room trying to learn to play table tennis! Bev and her family were so welcoming. Will definitely go back as there are plenty of places to visit in the area.

Loads of safe space & facilities for the kids.
Convenient for Chester, Wrexham and North Wales.
Would certainly recommend.
The owners have done a fantastic job renovating these properties. The are finished and furnished to a very high standard. They made us feel very welcome. The surrounding area provided lots of things to see and do and the setting was idyllic. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and were sorry to leave.
Trampoline in garden a winner.
Owners very helpful.
Great deal of care and thought has gone into this venture and we wish them every success.
We all thought the conversion had been sensitively and excellently executed. The level of decor and facilities was superb. The owner made us very welcome and we definitely appreciated all the extra touches such as the welcome cake she had left us.
This property was of a very high standard and we enjoyed staying there. The kitchen was very good and the children really enjoyed the garden facilities. The couple who own the property are very nice and helpful and we would be vary happy to go back.
Great property and location for a family. The outdoor play facilities and games barn were excellent for the children. A quiet location, but only a short drive to every facility/attraction you could want.
Excellent games facilities for the children. A good welcome including the cake.

The games room and trampoline were an asset for the teenagers.
Warm and comfortable. The owners were excellent hosts. In a good location for walks.
A safe, quiet area. Had no worries about the kids when playing outside. Lovely place, a real home from home.
Lovely place in a lovely part of the world. Would return as the pictures were as exactly as it was. Lovely setting, room sizes great.
Lovely setting. Really friendly and helpful owners.
The owner was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The setting was wonderful and my grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed having the run of the garden and the proxy cat which came with the cottage! Local amenities are some way away but then this adds to the charm of the peace and quietness.
The games room was very good for a big family. Plenty to do in the area.
Have just had a weeks
holiday here. Cannot fault it at all! Everything was perfect about
the accommodation and very private play area for children. Lots of space too in the property, bearing in mind it was five adults and one child in the cottage. Owners were also really pleasant to deal with and very helpful. Can highly recommend this cottage. Would go back there if in the area for future holidays.
The cottage is on a working farm, and we received a warm welcome from the owners. it has a comfortable and spacious living room, and an excellent kitchen/diner. The local pub does excellent food!
There was everything that we needed in the cottage and nothing had been scrimped upon. Lovely furniture and lots of equipment in the kitchen meant that we were able to relax and enjoy a lovely time with our extended family.
We'll be back!!!
We liked the space and the children enjoyed the outside area.
Comfortable, spacious and conveniently located holiday property. Well equipped and easy to access. We had a very enjoyable holiday, helped by excellent weather. There are lots of interesting places to visit within a short distance from the property and there are plenty of walks locally to enjoy. The owners are helpful and friendly. We are keen to return to the property to explore the area more fully in the future.
Excellent family accommodation with plenty of space, an excellent games room and outdoor play facilities.
We felt very welcome and extremely comfortable during our stay at The Dairy, it was like a home from home. Highly recommend this property!
