Fleshbeck Cottage

Fleshbeck Cottage offers guests the opportunity to experience a genuinely rural getaway. The idyllic two-bedroom waterside cottage holds much of its original character among the stone walls and floors, mullion windows, exposed beams and old range fireplace.

A babbling brook runs through the property and assures tranquillity, as do the pastoral views of the property and the wooded valley. The property accommodates four people in one double bedroom, one twin room, and one bathroom. A well-equipped kitchen and separate dining room contain modern appliances, and the charming old-range fireplace is found in the sitting room, which boasts stunning views of the region. The sitting room also includes a TV with Freeview, DVD player and WiFi. Electric heating throughout the cottage makes it an ideal space in any season.

Off-road parking for two cars is available, and the charming front lawned garden is perfect for barbecues, relaxation and playing with your pet. The market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is only three miles from the cottage, while a short drive takes guests to a host of destinations such as the Yorkshire Dales, the Lakes, the Lune Valley and the Forest of Bowland, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Peaceful surroundings

Handily located for the Western section of the Dales, only a short drive into Kirkby Lonsdale and then good access for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks.
Comfortable cottage with off road parking. Only reason that it doesn't get a 5 star is the lack of local walks from the door ( footpath opposite has a locked gate, difficult to access if you have a dog), a clothes horse would have been nice, there is a washer/dryer but not suitable for walking tops etc. Kitchen is a bit sparsely equipped, no scissors or baking tray and the smallest dinner plates I've ever seen.
No instruction/welcome pack and no visitors book which personally I like to see.

Great country charm

A real escape to the country, this old farmhouse offers an ideal location. It's just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and a short drive from the Lake District National Park, and minutes from historic Kirkby Lonsdale. So there's a little bit of something for everyone, and a lot of spectacular scenery! Owners, Mal and Angie, live just up the road. They're charming hosts; they couldn't do enough to make our stay more enjoyable.

Mark D

The location was superb - great for the Lake District and the Dales - and Kirby Longton is a lovely little town which is full of character. Great cheese shop too!

Mrs Richardson

We had a fantastic time and would recommend this property to anyone, ideal for cyclists straight out onto the lanes with great accessibility to the Lakes and the Dales.

Mrs Kynaston

This is the second time we have stayed at this cottage this year and we think it is lovely...It was quiet, away from everything and everyone, just what we wanted.

Mr Dinsdale

A lovely relaxing cottage in a good spot to explore the local area, the Dales and the Lake District. A good place to get away from it all.

Mrs Scurrah

The owner is helpful.

Mr & Mrs Perrins

Peace and quiet and lovely walks.

Dr Mungall

We thought that the location of the cottage was excellent. The cottage itself was cosy, full of character and we particulaly liked the open range in the sitting room. This has been the fourth time we have used Sykes to book a self catering cottage and every time we have been very satisfied with the standard and location of all the properties we have stayed in.

Mrs Gregson

A good location for children. Turn left out of the property to the woods and river, with lots of paddling and water. Absolutely beautiful.

Miss Pennington

Great for walking, Sedbergh a great place to visit as is Hawes & Ingleton & Lakes.

Mr Evans

We liked the peace and quiet and the views as we walked up the lane next to the house. Kirby Lonsdale was an excellent place to be near, with good eating out places, and also good butchers and cheese shop. We enjoyed doing the Three Peaks walks during our holiday, as well as lots of local walks.

Mrs Lisle

Not far from Lancaster, which is DEFINITELY worth a visit - Castle & Judge's Lodgings!

The rural location, quietness and traditional style property gave an overall excellent holiday. We would definitely recommend this to our friends and also consider staying there again ourselves.

Mr Bradley

I liked the very aesthetic and stylish arrangement of the cottage - it was easy to feel good in the old house.

Mr Kloss

Great location between the Lake District and Dales, you have the best of both worlds. There was loads to do-walks, caves, castles, lakes and there is good food in Kirby Lonsdale.

Mrs Turner

The standard of the cottage was good. We have only been in static caravans before so it was a nice change. The cottage was in a very quiet location.

Mrs Bridgwater

Owners who are very nice people. My kids loved the house which although beamed, had very high ceilings. We liked the peace and quiet. Walks with dog to see cows and sheep nearby. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely town, very pretty. A good jump off to the Lakes.

Mrs Tonge

Very peaceful and charming cottage. Ideally situated for the Lake District. Owners were also very charming.

Mrs Longden

Mr Cleland

Stunning, secluded location, great views. Peaceful and quiet. Cozy and characterful cottage, comfortably furnished with some nice antique pieces to reflect the age of the property, very homely. Loved the fireplace and so did the dogs! Xmas tree and decorations were a lovely touch. Owners friendly and accommodating. Beautiful surrounding area with quaint villages and towns. Good pubs and tea rooms, very dog friendly area.

Mr Meltzer

Fleshbeck Cottage was very homely and comfortable throughout. We have never had such a comfortable bed during a cottage holiday! The situation of the cottage was lovely and quiet. We had our reservations when we booked with it being semi-detached, but we didn't notice any noise from the adjoining property. The owner introduced himself and checked that everything was OK during our stay, which it was, no complaints whatsoever. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing week which was enhanced by such a lovely 'home from home' cottage. We would definitely return for another holiday and would highly recommend it to friends and family. Thank you.

Mrs Sharpe

Totally relaxing - lovely countryside.

Mrs Johnson

It was a home from home! Very cosy and quiet, very well equipped cottage and ideal, rural location.

Mrs Nichols

We had a good relaxing break, in a quiet location. Liked the fact the owner only called once to check all was well. The pictures were good, but did not do the place justice. We will go back.

Mr Quinn

With the cottage being well-situated, it was easy to travel to a number of local destinations. The cottage also felt very modern and clean. Although we had no immediate neighbours, any people we met were very friendly. It was also very nice of the owners to pay us a visit to check that everything was to our satisfaction.

Mr Egan

Owners very friendly and helpful. Accommodation to a tasteful, high standard and well maintained. Kirkby Lonsdale is located approx 3 miles away and has various facilities i.e. shops, eating, pubs and walks around the River Lune / Lune Valley. The Orange Tree has a very good selection of local ales courtesy the Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery. I cannot review our holiday without a mention for the Jingling Lane Traditional Fish and Chip Shop....lovely! Overall we had a lovely week, and would like to return next year.

Mr O'brien

It was the perfect place to unwind and relax, close to all areas of interest and in an absolutely beautiful setting.

Mrs Smith

A beautiful location, and a well equipped property finished to a high standard. It felt like a home from home.

Mrs Sarah Camish

Location quite remote, but beautiful setting and great for dog walks straight from the door. Cottage is beautiful and well maintained and equipped. Much bigger than it looks in the photographs which don't do it justice! Was really comfortable and cosy. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again.

Mrs Kent

A beautiful cosy cottage.

Mr Goodwin

We thought that the cottage was very spacious and warm upon arrival. It was well equipped and we all enjoyed the powerful hot showers. We especially loved the character features in the cottage like the windows and the range/ fire in the living room. The cottage location is great for visits to the Lakes and Lancs/Yorkshire. It was good to have the fire starter pack until we got our bearings and found where to buy wood etc.

Ms Atkins

Had a lovely week, really happy with the cottage would certainly be more than happy to return.

Mrs Haynes

Cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. Nice clean white bedding. Kitchen well equipped and clean. Nice walled garden, as we had a small dog with us. The cottage is set in lovely scenery - whichever way you look.

Ms Robinson

The surroundings are great. It's a perfect base to spend time in both areas; Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Kirkby Lonsdale is very nice village with a lot of facilities and nice shops. There is not much written about this village but it's definitely undervalued. The cottage is in a very good condition. We were very glad that pets were allowed. I can very recommend this cottage to anyone who likes to spend the holidays in a quiet neighbourhood.

Mr Vliegen

Fleshbeck cottage is set in a lovely rural location. If you want peace and quiet and not to be disturbed, then this is the place. The cottage is comfortable and the fire stove is excellent and a real roaring fire can be enjoyed. The garden is lovely and you can sit outside comfortably and hear nothing but the birds.

Mr Dean

The period Cottage is cosy and has a fantastic fireplace, just perfect for those wintery evenings. This property is also dog friendly and is highly recommended.

This is the second time we have been to Fleshbeck Cottage. We love the peace and quiet and the fact we can take the dog. The setting is perfect and the views are amazing.

A lovely cottage located in beautiful countryside, with easy access to nice walks and to the local small town. The cottage was very clean and tidy with fully functioning facilities. The owners were very pleasant and responsive if we had any requests and clearly cared very much about the cottage.

Mr Alba

It was exactly as described; very clean and organised, very well equipped and in excellent condition. It had a good shower, very helpful owners and a splendid small enclosed garden. It is in a nice quiet location. Really good value for money.

Mr Crwys-williams

Fleshbeck Cottage was very clean and with everything you need. Owners very contactable of you have a problem. Enclosed garden great for dogs and very peaceful relaxing time. Would highly recommend and great value. Well done to the owner for making our stay so comfortable and relaxing.

Mr Guy

Delightful, tranquil and sooo relaxing!

My partner and I along with our dog have just returned from a lovely stay at Fleshbeck Cottage. Although I have completed a review on the Sykes Cottages web site I wanted to ensure this place gets even more positive exposure!
Although the weather wasn't particularly kind we still managed to enjoy our break. The cottage is set in a beautiful and tranquil location approximately 3 miles north of Kirkby Lonsdale, which is a lovely and charming market town. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout and has a mix of modern and traditional. The bathroom has recently been upgraded and sports a lovely bath/shower. The kitchen is spacious and modern and is complimented with a separate dinning area. The living room is cosy and has a lovely range fireplace and although it rained we didn't need to use it. Both bedrooms were clean and tidy ensuring we had a good night's sleep. The location is ideal for the Lancashire coast, South Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. In addition there are several small market towns to visit close by. Sedbergh has a plethora of bookshops (good for a rainy day), Kikrkby Lonsdale plays host to some nice shops and eateries including the Orange Tree pub, complete with Local ales supplied by the Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery, the Jingling Lane traditional Fish and Chip shop and The Caraid coffee shop, which like many places is dog friendly. Last but not least is the Kittridding Farm Shop, who supply a lot of local produce...I recommend their homemade chesse scones!!
The owners of the cottage Mal and angie stopped by to ensure everything was ok.
Hopefully 2014 will see us returning to the area.

Peaceful Location

Lovely location for anyone who wishes to have the ability to travel between the Lakes and the Dales. Beautiful cottage with nice people in the location of Mansberg. Would be nice if a comments book was available to help with identifiying the routes of local footpaths and recomendations for restaurants etc.

Lovely cottage in tranquil surroundings.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable, the surrounding area was what we expected tranquil and beautiful which is why we booked this cottage.
The owners were very helpful with their advice and recommendations of where to eat and visit, would stay again.

Cottage in great location for access to Lake District and Dales

Friendly owners, cottage with character, lovely bedrooms and bathroom. Kirby Lonsdale has good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Easy access to Dales and Lakes with loads to see and do. Recommend White Scar Caves, Ingleborough, Kyaking on Windermere, Lancaster Castle and walking around Buttermere.

A lovely break

The cottage is lovely exactly what I expected. If you want a quiet holiday it is ideal.

Mrs S Bridgwater

Lovely cottage in a peaceful location

This cottage ticks all the boxes. Two bedroom, log fire as well as central heating. Peaceful (apart from the odd tractor going past and a wierd generator-type noise from next door). Small but adequate bathroom with a really powerful shower. The only criticisms I have is that although it's fairly clean, it did smell of dog and there were dog hairs on the carpets in the living room and the double bedroom. There were also one or two on the bed which made me wonder if they had actually changed the sheets. The bed didn't smell of dog so maybe they were on someone's clothes whilst they changed the sheets. The owners have several properties to clean and I don't think that they gave themselves enough time before we checked in.
Overall, I would stay here again because it had everything we needed and the location is really good because it's a convenient drive both to the Lakes and the Dales. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely town too. I might bring my own sheets and towels next time because they charge for bath sheets. (They do provide towels).
Older travellers might like to know that the staircase has a lot of stairs and they are quite steep. This made it tough to carry our suitcases upstairs. My elderly mum had to get up several times to go to the toilet in the night and the bathroom door makes quite a loud clattering noise and it is tricky to close. It is a lovely old cottage so you have to expect these things with wonky floorboards. I found it quite charming but it's not for everyone.

Loves2Travel15

a very cosey cottage

Enjoyed the log fires. The location was great for Kirkby Lonsdale. The shops are very individual with nice things to buy and eat.

The cottage is also handy for visiting the Lakes, 30 mins from Kendal.
