Moorparks Barn

Remote Countryside Cottage For Walking Holidays in North Devon

The location of this North Devon holiday cottage location is exceptional. A natural retreat where you have the freedom to relax and unwind in your own way. Escape, find peace and tranquillity and enjoy the beautiful environment surrounding you. Your visit to Moorparks Holiday Cottages might be just what you need. We want it to be special.

Moorparks Farm is a grade II listed building built around 1850.

We moved from Reading to Moorparks in 2015, and since then, we have fully refurbished and refurnished both cottages and the grounds. Each cottage now has its own private garden and outside eating areas. There is a large, off-road guest car park. We have very good WIFI covering the inside and outside of the cottages. Visit us, and see North Devon and all of the local attractions.

We are in a great location to explore all North Devon offers. Halfway between Dartmoor and Exmoor (you can see the hills of Exmoor from Moorparks) and only a short drive to the North Devon Coast. This rural retreat in Beaford village is surrounded by countryside, farmland, wildlife, and of course, all our friendly animals. There are plenty of Nation Trust properties and gardens to visit, and we are just 5 miles from RHS Rosemoor.

When making a booking or an enquiry, please tell us that you found this North Devon holiday cottage near Great Torrington on the My Favourite Holiday Cottages website. Thank you.

Relaxing stay

We have just returned home after a lovely relaxing stay at Moorparks. We stayed in the barn which was immaculate, beautifully presented and furnished and was fully equipped with everything you need. The beds were amazing and I personally had the best nights' sleep!
We loved meeting the animals and we particularly became very fond of the alpacas and goats. I will miss my morning and evening chats with them.
Erik and Michele are the most charming hosts and always made time to have a chat with us. Nothing was too much trouble.
We will most certainly return and would highly recommend a visit.

Thank you for a lovely stay

Immaculately Clean

We had a wonderful week in the Barn at Moorparks. The Barn is beautifully decorated, generously equipped and immaculately clean. Erik and Michelle are perfect hosts - always on hand to help (even supplied us with a couple of nuts to fix our bike rack!), friendly and chatty. They even arranged for a birthday cake to be there on arrival for our son’s 11th birthday. They introduced us to all their fantastic animals and we were given a supply of delicious chicken and duck eggs! Reggie the sheep was a huge hit with our daughter, as was Toffee the alpaca. We hand fed the chickens - Olive is particularly friendly! And we were honoured to be there for the arrival of Del, Trigger and Rodney, the goats. We learned so much about the animals.
Moorparks is a great base to explore North Devon, or just stay at the farm and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, making friends with the animals. ?

Amazingly clean

Huge thanks to Erik and Michele, we loved staying in the barn, which was amazingly clean and really well equipped. Even down to tupperware and fresh eggs on arrival. Just like being at home but better!
Freya (10) loved the animals, and Erik and Michele were really good at telling us all about them, letting us feed the sheep and help with the arrival of the new chickens. Gorgeous location in the middle of nowhere ?

Fantastic Stay

Just back from another fantastic stay as always at the cottage Moorparks. A relaxing week, what a fabulous place to stay, Erik & Michele have thought of everything to be in the cottage & nothing is to much trouble. We arrived in glorious sunshine to be greeted by the alpacas, goats & sheep, oh & of course Erik & Michele. This time we were able to get up close & feed the sheep, alpacas & goats all so friendly & we loved it. I can't reccomend Moorparks enough, everyone so friendly & a relaxing time had. So much so we have booked for next year.

Wood Burner

We just had a fantastic long weekend at Moorparks Cottage. Eric and Michele are lovely and very welcoming hosts. The Cottage had everything we needed (and more!) and the wood burner was much needed as we stayed while Storm Ciara was raging! The animals - alpacas, sheep, chickens and ducks are great to see and very well loved. We definitely recommend Moorparks and would love to stay again. Thank you.

Friendly owners

Lovely place, very well appointed, super clean. Very friendly owners who clearly cared about their business and animals, which showed in the way the whole place was presented/looked after.

Wonderful weekend of rest

We had a wonderful weekend of rest and relaxation at Moorparks cottages. We stayed in the Barn. It was spotless, clean comforatable, and the high quality of furnishings and fixtures were amazing. The attention to detail, from logs for the woodburner, to candles for the evening, very comfortable bed, lovely sofa, it was truely home from home. We were made to feel very welcome, and had a guided tour of all the animals, goats, sheep, alpacas, ducks and chicks, it was just delightful. As we left we were given a selection of duck and chicken eggs laid fresh that morning.... what more can I say?

Michele & Eric (aka farmer Barry) couldn’t be more welcoming, attention to detail in the accommodation & outdoor space was superb.

What a little gem !

What a little gem , so pleased we managed to have a break at Moorparks and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The photos and reviews certainly lived up to our expectations and more. The cottage was very well equipped, extremely clean and felt more like a home rather than holiday cottage . Tea coffee milk biscuits (plus fresh eggs )were a welcome sight after our 7 hour journey , Erik was even kind enough to message us when we said we would be delayed to let us know what and where the problem was and possible alternative route. Views across the fields were amazing and with the decked area we were able to spend some evenings with the chiminea roaring away , bats flying around star gazing and listening to wildlife in the distance. Our hosts were lovely It’s obvious how much the animals mean to them and enjoyed our tour getting to meet them close up including the sheep. Information on the website and in the cottage was very informative especially places to visit and eat. We mainly ate locally and quality and friendliness of local pubs was 2nd to none and particularly enjoyed The Kings Arms at Winkleigh and the Globe Inn in Beaford. Cottage was ideally based for exploring the area . Locally we went to Halsdon nature reserve and Combatton combat collection , further afield we went to lynmouth to do the circular route which was well worth the hike for outstanding views , shaldon to the south . The cottage is ideally situated for exploring , its away from tourists areas which appealed to us and if we return to Devon again I wouldn’t hesitate to book again or recommend to anyone else. Thank you for our stay xx
