Beckside Cottage in Lastingham

This idyllic retreat for couples lies in the village of Lastingham and is within reach of scenic coastlines and national parks. Beckside is a truly romantic cottage whose original stone façade encases a thoroughly modern and beautifully decorated interior.

One floor holds the spacious double bedroom, the open-plan living area and the French doors, which lead guests to the patio and the views of the village stream. The en-suite bathroom includes a small bath and shower, and the kitchen contains modern appliances. The kitchen opens to the dining area, and the sitting room offers an electric log-effect fire, which is perfect for relaxing with that special person.

Guests have access to WiFi, TV and DVD player, as well as off-road parking and central heating. The décor is refined and subtle, yet cosy at the same time.

Beckside is within Moors National Park and is a perfect base for visiting the nearby coastline. In Lastingham, dine at the Blacksmith’s Arms pub and stop by the Crypt Church of St Mary. Further afield, ride on a steam Railway, visit a theme park or enjoy the Eden Camp Modern History Museum. Beckside is pet free and not suitable for children under 10.

charming little property in a beautiful setting.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything we needed was in the property. The surrounding area is great for walking and site seeing. Lovely to get away from it all. The village is a few miles from the nearest shops so transport is necessary.

Superb holiday in an excellent property

We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks here and were very disappointed to discover that this property is about to be taken off the books as the owners are planning to reoccupy it.

Peace and quiet

The cottage was small but nicely appointed in all respects except for the cooking facilities. There was no proper oven and we found the combination microwave difficult to use. [Had we stayed longer we would probably have come to terms with it!]. Location superb. A lovely little village on the edge of the moors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would use the cottage again.

Enjoyable and relaxing break

I had a wonderful holiday.

The cottage was in a beautiful and quiet spot - it was just a short walk from a top notch pub in what is a very pretty and peaceful village.

The cottage was just the right size for my husband and I and the owner was very friendly and helpful.

We found that the location was ideal as a base for exploring the moors - we found a number of very good walks, including to Rosedale Abbey and Hutton-le-Hole that started from Lastingham.

I would love to go back again.

Lovely cosy cottage.

Welcomed by the owner who showed us round the cottage and explained where everything was and how to use the fire, water heater etc.It was lovely and warm and a very compact cottage with all we needed.Very small village with no shops and only one pub/restaurant.Had a meal there on two occasions, good food and friendly staff. We wanted a quiet and relaxing break and that's just what we had.Would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting same.

The perfect 'get away from it all' cottage

From the moment we were welcomed by the owner to the moment we left this was the perfect get away from it all break.
The cottage was very cosy for a winter break, we could also see it as ideal for those warmer evenings, sitting outside by the beck.
Although Lastingham is in a lovely quiet valley the towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Malton are all within easy reach.
Walking on the Moors is accessible from the door-step,wonderful countryside to explore in all seasons as long as you are fully prepared; walking boots, etc. are essential.
We hope to return in the very near future.

Relaxation in a peaceful village.

The cottage is clean, nicely decorated and well-equipped. I have fond memories of morning coffee sitting on the bench overlooking the stream listening to birdsong. The cottage is in a superb location with moorland walks on the doorstep and a friendly village pub serving fine food.

What a beautiful cottage

We stayed here for a week and cannot fault the cottage. It is well equipped clean and comfortable. The owners are so accommodating and very welcoming. They have equipped it to a very high standard and obviously want to do the very best for their guests. We felt so at home there. In fact we really did not want to leave. The village and it's residents are very friendly. The location is good for travelling around the Moors and to York, Whitby, Scarborough and many more places of beauty and interest.

another great stay

this was our 2nd stay in Beckside. we had 1 week last year but booked 3 weeks this time and it was just as great. we did loads of travelling but always felt at home once back in the cottage. the time went too quickly but we have a week next year to look forward to now. Cannot fault anything. as well as all the amenities in the cottage there is also the use of the owners washing machine & dryer. Robyn & Alan are the perfect hosts. Thank you so very much for everything. The village is small & unspolit with friendly residents and the most wonderful pub. No mobile phone signal though anywhere in the village. not a problem for us though.but there is wi fi in the cottage. look forward to our return.

A great romantic getaway for two!

A perfect cottage for two people to escape to. Great facilities in a perfect location and If you want to put on half a stone, visit the Blacksmiths Arms, a 5 minute walk away with great food and drink from very friendly hosts. Lastingham is a superb location to explore the Moors and this cottage is the place to do it from.

Instant relaxation!

No winding down needed here. As soon as I sat on the patio with a glass of wine listening to the sounds of the bubbling stream I started chilling! Although Beckside is quite a small property, it has been tastefully and cleverly planned to give it a spacious feel. It was spotlessly clean with quality furnishings. The only disadvantage we found was that the kitchen area was a little cramped for us, and whilst a microwave combination oven is adequate, we found it a little restrictive for our needs.

Claireg17

Lovely cottage in a lovely village!

Brilliant

Once again for our third visit standard is just as high. Thank you. Also a handy pub around the corner if you want a very good meal.
