The My Favourite Holiday cottages website contains listings by independently owned and agency managed holiday cottages in the UK and was first published in 2010. Our aim is to make it easy for site users to find and book a quality holiday cottage that meets their requirements anywhere in the UK.
Advertising on the site is by a straight forward subscription. Owners or Agencies with online booking software on their own websites, can display their booking calendar and accept online bookings through their advert. We do not charge a commission fee to owners or a booking fee to guests for this service. Any money paid by a guest to book a cottage goes directly to the owner or agency - not to us.
For further information on any of these services, please contact us or visit our Services for Cottage Owners page. My Favourite Cottages is committed to advertising quality holiday cottages in the UK. We are constantly upgrading the website to ensure it remains on page 1 of Google and the other major search engines for the main holiday cottage search phrases.
... About this Site...
When planning a holiday, sometimes you just want to get away, relax and unwind. Sometimes you need a place that is ideal for a more active break or handy for a festival. Whether you know exactly what you are looking for, or simply in need of inspiration, our aim is to:
- Help you find a choice of appropriate holiday cottages to rent, and
- Give you access to their owners and/or websites as quickly as possible to enable you to book.
Use the search criteria: The more criteria you tick, the more you narrow down your selection of holiday cottages that fit your exact requirements.
We share enough information on a cottage for you to decide whether or not it appeals. If it does, we provide a link to the owners website and of course, their booking enquires link. Alternatively, just telephone or e-mail them direct with your enquiry or questions. What's more, there are absolutely no booking fees to pay when you make a reservation or online booking via My Favourite Holiday Cottages.
We also make it just as easy for you to phone or e-mail an enquiry or questions to a cottage owner as well. This way, guests booking a cottage avoid paying booking fees for cottages or prices that aren't overly inflated by agency commission. If you have any questions, comments, feedback, please feel free to email us or call us on 01271 342143.
...and our integrity!
Every holiday cottage listed on this site displays a link to its own website. This helps to protect everyone booking a cottage: While it may be easy to create a spoof advert, it is harder (and just too time consuming) to create a spoof website (which is also much easier to track). That is why we include the web site link. You can enquire and, in some cases, even book a cottage from the listing that appears on My Favourite Holiday Cottages, but we don’t allow any cottage to advertise here unless it has its own website. This makes My Favourite Holiday Cottages a much more reassuring site for those booking a self catering holiday to use.
We regularly review adverts to ensure they are accurate and not misleading.
We display a Google Map for each cottage to enable everyone to see just where a cottage is, and reassure themselves that it really does have a sea view and really is in a remote corner of the countryside -if that is what it claims within its advert.
Who We Are
Rick set up My Favourite Holiday Cottages in 2010, initially as part of a company called My Holiday Marketing, but since April 2018, as an independent company. Rick has been a holiday property owner in his own right since 2003, firstly with a villa in North Cyprus and latterly with a luxury holiday cottage in North Devon. He is passionate about holiday cottages believing the best among them to be the most comfortable and satisfying way to enjoy a holiday anywhere. He loves to help and advise owners on ways to enhance their appeal of their properties to guests and other ways to ensure they enjoy the best holiday ever when staying in one. His monthly Newsletter, 'The Holiday Homefront' is always packed with top tips and advice to help holiday cottage owners stay on top of their game. Do Sign-Up for it if you're not already recipient - it's completely free fo charge
Rick is a board member for Visit Exmoor and a trustee for a sustainable energy charity called the Festival Energy Revolution Trust raising thousands of pounds to invest in renewable energy schemes.
In his previous career, before investing his energies in creating My Favourite Holiday Cottages, Rick worked in the arts, managing theatres, arts centres and festivals in the UK, His love of sport and sense of fair play saw him through years of playing, coaching and refereeing the great game of rugby, though sadly, a dodgy knee (good only for a waiting list) has led to a curtailment of his physical involvement in the game.
Ed is our technical adviser, ready and willing with the latest information on the way the world of the internet is evolving and changing. His advise helps to keep My Favourite Holiday Cottages up to date with the latest in trends and ensure we remain as a friend to Google and other search engines. Ed has his own media company, Gold Coast Media and despite encroaching age, can still play a mean game of 5-a-side-football, even if he does need the rest of the month to recover.
Dan is our technician, responsible for building and continuing to develop the May Favourite Holiday Cottages website. He is particularly good at working through to the early hours of the morning without incurring so much as a single error in his coding. But then, he is a Bristol City supporter to atone for his otherwise clear-minded dedication to web-perfection.
Duncan is our prolific copywriter whose geographic knowledge of UK towns, seaside resorts and villages is now much improved having written description for around 500 and counting). When he unshackle him from his writing tablet, he generally heads for the beach, surfboard under his arm for a few hours catching waves.
While the gender balance isn't what we would like to to be in this company, Charlie fights the corner for equality through balancing our books, protecting our credit record. She ensures that our accountants can find little to charge us for at the end of each financial year through keeping meticulous records of our finances and woe betide anyone who fails to submit a receipt!
