Do not forget to consider the drive and garden of a holiday property. Is their level access to a terrace or patio? How far is it from the drive to the front door?

Many owners with accessible facilities in their cottage are also likely to have a good working knowledge of accessible places to visit on holiday, from wheelchair friendly trails in the country to leisure facilities such as swimming pools and cinemas. They will be more than happy to give advice - so just ask! Most owners should also be able to provide information about local businesses from which to hire special equipment, such as a chair hoist, or wheelchair. This is very helpful if you simply don't have enough room to carry or fit all you need into a vehicle. Give an owner a ring or just email an enquiry containing your questions.
