There's more to Woolacombe than just Woolacombe Beach (and Putsborough at the far end). To the East lie the small coves of Watergate Bay and Barricane Beach with a mixture of sand, rocks and lovely rock pools. In summer, the cafe above Barricane Beach sells Sri Lankan Curries on the beach: bring your own chairs and candelabra! Beyond that lies the little village of Mortehoe with two great pubs and a lovely walk around Morte Point peninsula - watch Atlantic rollers crash on to the rocky shores below. There are also some lovely holiday cottages along the coast road with superb sea views between Woolacombe and Mortehoe for those who would like to be just outside the bustle of Woolacome, but near enough to get to the beach in a matter of minutes from your holiday cottage. The South West Coast Path runs along the coast offering lovely walks in the direction of Ilfracombe to the East and to Croyde Bay to the west.
