Choose from a wide range of accessible holiday cottages in the UK that offer a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. These range from level access and ground floor bedrooms suitable for the elderly or infirm to wheelchair-friendly wet rooms with shower seats, hoists and hi-lo beds for profoundly disabled guests. Each Accessible Holiday Cottage listed in the Accessible Cottages pages on My Favourite Holiday Cottages has indicated that they offer accessible facilities for accommodating self-catering guests.

The facilities in the holiday homes listed here will vary and may not necessarily cover every disability in the book. Accessible facilities range from step-free level access for those who need to avoid steps to those able to cater for guests with profound disabilities and their carers, with track hoists, specialist bedroom and bathroom equipment and accessible gardens. Do not forget to consider the drive and garden of a holiday property. Is their level access to a terrace or patio? How far is it from the drive to the front door?

Many owners with accessible facilities in their cottages are also likely to have an excellent working knowledge of accessible places to visit on holiday, from wheelchair-friendly trails in the country to leisure facilities such as swimming pools and cinemas. They will be more than happy to give advice - so ask! Most owners should also be able to provide information about local businesses from which to hire special equipment, such as a chair hoist or wheelchair. This is very helpful if you don't have enough room to carry or fit all you need into a vehicle. Give an owner a ring or email an enquiry containing your questions.
