Bedfordshire is the home of John Bunyan, a Roundhead in the 17th century Civil War, and writer of the famous book, Pilgrim's Progress, during a stay in prison. The county shares boundaries with four other counties, and provides numerous walking areas which will take you to many museums, showing the history of this busy inland county. The fairly modern history of the Air Force can be studied at the Shuttleworth Air Museum where 'the stringbags' still fly or observed at RAF Cardington.
