2.Porlock Bay Oysters

Located in Porlock, this award-winning, independent oyster farm on Porlock Bay on the West Somerset coast is one of the UK's few 'Category A' waters. This organic food supplier offers sustainably harvested pacific oysters with a reputation amongst oyster lovers for their clean, fresh flavour. And other seafood, including crab and lobster, is sourced from Porlock Bay and the surrounding waters. 3.The Moorland Pantry

Based in Lynton, this organic food shop in North Devon is part butcher, part deli and part health food store. It sources its meat and dairy products from organic farms and offers a range of locally-sourced produce, including fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy, and other pantry staples.

4. Bawdens the Bakers

A family business of passionate master bakers who have been baking bread and cakes on Exmoor since 1939. They are a great source for tarts, pasties, sweet and savoury pies, cream, cheeses and sandwiches, making it a popular stop for packing a hamper for an Exmoor picnic. 5. Bake Me Crazy

     If you are planning to book an Exmoor holiday cottage with friends and family to celebrate a birthday or special occasion, then say hello to Nicky, Exmoor’s self-styled bad-assed baker, a cake-maker extraordinaire who just loves to create and bake the most amazing cakes. Close your eyes and imagine you’ve got a light and fluffy slice of zesty

6. West Ilkerton Farm

Come to Ilkerton Farm Shop to stock your holiday cottage larder with perhaps the best organic, sustainably-farmed lamb and beef on Exmoor. Bring the family and enjoy a farm tour, learning how they raise and care for Exmoor Long Horn sheep and Devon Ruby Red beef cows. Check their website for dates of beef and lamb sale days. The farm is also under a Higher Level Stewardship agreement which helps conserve wildlife, flora, fauna, and historical farm features. Their website holds superb recipes from Easy Peasy Roast Silverside to Thai Stir-fried minced beef with chilli and basil.

  1. West Country Cheese

West Country Cheese in South Molton goes miles further than selling individual cheeses (although their cheese selection is impressive). Their produce extends to Wedding cheesecakes, crackers and accompaniments. It also has a licenced deli section, allowing you to select the right wine to go with your choice of cheese. If you want to splash out, you can create your own cheese hamper with cheeses, chutneys, crackers, buttermilk fudge, figs, etc., delivered in a wicker basket hand-tied with a silk ribbon. Like so many of Exmoor’s specialist food shops, while you can order online in advance of your visit, we highly recommend you visit the shop  - each of them a little Aladdin’s case of culinary delights overseen by an expert who will be a mine of advice and information on ways to cook and serve their produce.

  1. Grown Up Marshmallows

Not as wicked as you might believe, hand-cut Grown Up Marshmallows are entirely free from fat, egg, gluten and dairy products. Almost (should you ever need the excuse to indulge) healthy. They can contain fresh fruit or the best Fair Trade chocolate and come in many flavours (the Sicilian Lemon is particularly wonderful).
