Find My Favourite Holiday Cottages in Skipton

Found in the Craven District of North Yorkshire is the quaint riverside market town of Skipton. Near the spectacular Yorkshire Dales, Skipton is surrounded by the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool canal, gifting all who visit with miles and miles of stunning scenery – great for exploring from your rented vacation cottage. Not just offering pretty wildlife, Skipton is also the home of a vibrant and lively high street, with many independent businesses lining the shopping area. If your feet are tired after a long day of walking in the Dales countryside (or, of course, shopping!), then take your pick of one of the many fine pubs on offer. Alternatively, pop into a traditional fish and chip restaurant. Treat your partner to a night out, grab a bite to eat in one of Skipton’s restaurants, and then visit the Mart or Little Theatre for a show.

Look around Skipton, and you will see plenty of historical architecture. Skipton Castle, built in 1090, is one of the best preserved mediaeval castles, while a mill, built in 1310, is one of the oldest in the area. The town hall acts as a museum, but if you prefer to see history come to life, come during the summer for Skipton Sheep Day, celebrating the heritage and culture of this exciting town through food and fun market stalls. Similarly, an annual gala is excellent for participating with the kids, where the public parades through Aireville Park, finishing the event with music and fireworks. On the other hand, the Skipton Christmas market has been voted one of the best in England and is worth checking out. To behold Skipton in all its glory, hop aboard a boat on the Leeds and Liverpool canal and let yourself take in all the views while relaxing on deck. If you would like to blow off steam after, Skipton offers everything from swimming to cycling to squash.
