Converted from a Victorian chapel, Chapel House in Anglesey is a large, purpose-built luxury holiday cottage in a pleasant rural location. It lies about a country mile outside the village of Llanddeusant in the hamlet of Elim on the Island’s west coast. The pet-friendly cottage sleeps 12 in 6 bedrooms with four bathrooms.

Chapel House has been carefully designed to retain many character features, including its vestry doors and church pews, to create a spacious, beautifully designed and comfortable space.

The cottage kitchen is spacious and intelligently designed. It has a large central breakfast island that merges with a dining area, beyond which wide French Windows open onto an attractive garden. Beyond the kitchen is a games room with a table tennis table and further seating that will appeal to the young and young at heart in equal measure.

The cottage’s sitting room is on the first floor to take advantage of its rural views. It has comfy sofas that gather around a very effective log burner. At one end of the room, another set of walk-through patio doors opens onto a Juliette balcony to reveal a panoramic view of the Anglesey countryside with the bonus of some stunning sunsets.

In addition to the first-floor lounge, a second living room in the form of a ‘snug’ has been created on the ground floor. This room also has a woodburner and is the kind of room where you can escape with a good book, the Sunday papers, and a glass of wine.

The bedrooms are located on both floors. The ground floor boasts the master bedroom with a king-size double bed, an en-suite bathroom, and a twin bedroom. Two more twin bedrooms will be found on the first floor, and two double bedrooms, one with a king-size double bed and an en-suite bathroom.

Take a stroll along the nearby Mills Trail to visit Wales’s only working windmill (it has an excellent tea room if you need a further incentive), or why not go for a scenic walk along the fringes of superb, sandy beaches? Bring or hire bikes, go fishing or sailing, or play a round or two of golf to work off those tea-room calories. A little further afield, take a tour of Beaumaris and its castle, or spend a day relaxing in the beautiful bays at Trearddur and Cemaes.
