Two Tweenways

Above was given a 4 1/2 star hence our booking. The parking and proximity to the town etc are wonderful ,the decor is fine but the furnishings were not up to the standard of the 14 other selfcatering we have used but the bones are there for improvement greatly.In todays modern society with phones,readers and netbooks,ipads etc found this was only place we stayed at didnt have wifi on tap but top marks to the owner she did let us into her site. Also no towels???How many people carry towels on holiday.Never came across no towels before but top marks to the owner-she did lend us a couple.A bit reluctant to recommend till we know furnishings have been upgraded and more comfortable and cleaner.

We booked the cottage for Xmas week, having been before we knew the lay out inside and where it was regards shops, pubs, restaurants. It is a comfy cosy warm place and we spent a nice week there, we were inside more than planned due to wet weather and able to enjoy the TV and the radio and warmth. The bathroom has a lovely big shower and a deep bath. One minus side was the traffic noise as on main road but one does get use to it.
Ambleside is a good base for walks, busses, car trips with a good variety of pubs, restaurants, shops, Picture houses etcs

We found the cottage to be a comfortable size, warm, clean and nicely decorated with a nice 'feel' about the place. Very useful off street parking space, plenty of storage space and bathroom is a good size. Downside is first no towels supplied which we couldn't understand, seems like a strange austerity move by the owner. Second, you have to get used to the traffic noise right outside the bedroom window. Third, we found the bed to be hard, with noisy springs on one side and overall past it's best. Really hope the owner takes a look at this and invests in a new, more comfortable model.

This delightful cottage was most welcoming with well thought inclusions. It was very comfortably furnished and ideal for self catering. It was very well located just a few minutes walk from the centre of the charming village.

Two Tweenways was an ideal base for the two of us to explore the lakes. Exceptionally well stocked with all the home comforts, immaculately clean and tastefully decorated.

We had a very nice and relaxing holiday and the accommodation made it even more enjoyable. It was excellent. Information left by owners regarding walks etc very helpful as to the details etc for eating out.

The house was very nice in a beutifull area, and just every thing was great.

The location of the cottage was ideal, having shops restuarants on the doorstep, but still being able to do so many walks from the cottage.

The cottage was really cosy and just what we were after. The owners left a great deal of useful information on walks, restaurants, bars, shops etc....Thanks very much - we had a wonderful time!

A beautiful cottage set in an ideal location close to all amenities and an ideal base for walking.

The cottage was fantastic, a real home from home. It had all the amenities you could want and was in walking distance from the beautiful village of Ambleside. We can't wait to go again, and will recommend this cottage to friends.

The cottage was excellent and the position on the edge of town superb. It was handy for walking and for going out in the evening.

Excellent location. Most tourist attractions and walks reasonably close - did not have to drive far. Superb walks straight from accommodation - no need to get in car. Within walking distance of pubs, restaurants, shops etc.

There are plenty of walks to go on and all can be started from the cottage, information on walks have been provided - written by owners of cottage and have been well written and are easy to follow. We stayed in 'One Tweenways' last year and had a wonderful week so we thought we'd return this year and move up one door. Once again, we enjoyed a very relaxing week - it was absolute bliss. So, we're hoping to return next year for a week in 'Number 3'.

Bathroom and kitchen standard excellent. We felt very at home in the cottage and it had a lovely atmosphere. Great location near to bus routes and a short walk into Ambleside. Indian restaurant in village very good, also Busy Lizzies Coffee Shop - excellent foodand friendly staff. Excellent holiday, will return soon!

Good accomadation...

The position of the property was excellent; we could walk to all the pubs and restaurants in Ambleside. It was very warm and cosy. The fittings in the bathroom and the kitchen were excellent.

Lovely property in a stunning area. Even the weather couldn't ruin our holiday!

We thought the cottage was great and the location was ideal for walking around the lakes. We could leave the car and just walk from the cottage. There was also a variety of places to eat or shop.

The location of the cottage to the town of Ambleside. The walks from the cottage were superb, we didn't use our car for three days, which was nice. The homely feel of the cottage - as soon as we walked in we knew it was going to be a great holiday. The decor and furnishing of the cottage were great. The porch area was great for keeping coats, boots, etc. The shower was great too. The stair lights are a fantastic touch.

Ambleside is central and a great base from which to explore the Lake District, and Two Tweenways is a wonderful oasis in this town.

This was our second visit to 2 Tweenways and, just as before, everything was perfect. Very cosy and warm. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great location in the Lake District.

Perfect cottage getaway in the centre of Ambleside. Extremely high standard of refurbishment makes this a very comfortable place to spend a week.

Excellent food at 'Fellini's' (Ambleside). Drink in a stunning view with your beer at 'The Drunken Duck' in Barngates.
'The Cumberland Pencil Museum', Keswick is much more interesting than you would imagine!

We liked the fact that Two Tweenways was within short walking distance to shops, pubs and restaurants. The cottage was lovely with a nice sized kitchen. There were lots of books in the basket for things to do in the Lake District.

The cottage was situated just a short walk away from all the attractions of Ambleside town centre which proved to be a real boon especially when the weather was inclement.

A beautiful cottage in a perfect location, less than 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Ambleside. The cottage was very cosy and had everything you would ever need.

We loved the town, the countryside and the general atmosphere. Most importantly Tweenways 2 felt like a real home and not just a place to stay. A lot of thought has been put into providing small pleasures and the local guide provided by the owner was a great help in choosing where to go and where to eat. Full marks!

The cottage was well situated for the shops, for walks and cycling. The cottage was comfortable and an ideal base for the Great North Swim in which my husband was taking part. We had a great week.

A charming cottage, well situated with easy access to a fantastic range of restaurants and bars. The most appealing feature was the ability to leave the car and be still be able to enjoy hill walking, mountain climbing, water falls and boat trips - so relaxing.

We stayed at Two Tweenways in June 2011. This is a very nice, we equipped little cottage that makes and ideal base to explore Ambleside and Lake Windemere. There is nothing this cottage lacks, it has a huge bathroom with a separate bath and power shower (ideal after a long walk). The Kitchen is very well equiped and even had brandy glasses (you cant even get them in some Pubs!). If there is one downside, it is situated on a busy road (like most hotels/cottages in the lakes) but after a while you get used to the noise of the traffice.

This is a perfect cottage for two. It is surprisingly spacious, with a very well appointed kitchen, comfortable seating, exceptionally large bathroom with plenty of hot water. It is spotlessly clean. The added bonus is the parking space and proximity to ambleside. Wifi would have been the icing on the cake but there were plenty of wifi cafes and pubs in ambleside. The booking procedure and key arrangements were straight forward. We loved it and will be going back later this year
