The friendliness of the owner; he could not do enough for us and made us very welcome.

The field and stream were fantastic for the children to play in. A great location for easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District.

Location and the property were really good. Quiet, peaceful surroundings.

We loved the cottage and are hoping to go back next year if possible.

Cottage was beautiful and the owner very friendly and helpful. The cottage was perfect for people with dogs as the floors were all slate tiles and it was one level. It was an excellent location. I would definitely recommend this property.

An lovely cottage in a great location. We were made very welcome. Very spacious inside the cottage and the stream and land for children to play in was excellent - we all loved the friendly horse. We hope to return again.

The cottage was the most comfortable holiday home we have stayed in - proper sized beds, a well equipped kitchen and super shower, coupled with the underfloor heating all made the experience very satisfactory. The owner was very helpful and friendly without being in any way intrusive. The area is very beautiful and not at all crowded. Having Kirkby Stephen on the doorstep made self catering easy.

The owner was fantastic - very friendly and welcoming. Area was very quiet so if you're looking to get away from it all, this is ideal. Horses in fields just topped off the beautiful surroundings and the sheep and ducks contributed to the ambience.

Accommodation exceeded expectations. Property also very dog friendly with use of meadows for exercise. Surrounded by beautiful scenery - in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and Durham Dales. Host very welcoming and friendly. Also witnessed the birth of a calf on the working farm - a first! Amazing.

A very pleasant place to stay with plenty to do in the surrounding countryside. My wife especially commented that she thought that this was the best equipped holiday home that we have stayed in. It suited us 'down to the ground' with our grandsons making special usage of the table tennis room.

The Cottage owner was always very helpful. The cottage is beautiful, very spacious and comfortable. The location is wonderful too making it a very peaceful break. Lots of walking to be done around the area. We highly recommend The Bay Horse Inn, Winton. We all enjoyed our little break and will definitely book again and recommend to friends and family. Just returned from a great long weekend at Rainbow Cottage. All the comments made by previous holidaymakers, the location, the accommodation, helpfulness of the owners, I fully support. In addition, the cottage provides excellent facilities for wheelchair users, easy access to the cottage, lovely patio area, wide doors inside and an excellent wet room with aids which are there if you need them, unobtrusive if not. Loved the isolation of the cottage and it's setting on the farm. The quality of the kitchen equipment exceptional. My seven year old son loved the freedom of living on a farm and being able to feed and stroke the horses. The table tennis room was also well used.

The barn conversion was so well thought out. For our wheelchair bound aunt it was great, plenty of room and the wet room was superb.

A superb conversion of farm buildings to the highest standard. Wheelchair accessible and a wet room. The geothermal underfloor heating works very well. Plenty of room for 6 people comfortably. Excellent hosts-made to feel very welcome.

The owners were very welcoming and friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The property was spacious and comfortable and was set in delightful surroundings. I do not have the words to express how good this cottage is and how this area of the country appears to be an undiscovered gem with many beautiful and quiet lanes and villages.

Roomy and comfortably, warm all the time even in the worst weather. Very good for coming back to after a day on the hills. Everything about the property was perfect.

The cottage was very nice. The children were delighted being able to feed the horses and see the sheep. The owners were lovely, kind people- nothing was to much for them. Got some amazing photos of the children in the snow and sleighing down the hill. What an amazing adventure for the children .

A lovely cottage which comfortably accommodated 6 adults and 2 children plus a collie. The owners, were very helpful and accommodating. A really nice quiet unspoilt part of England.

Fantastic location, being on a working farm in Spring was heavenly. Fresh air, fabulous views and friendly owners. We had a chilled holiday where the children were entertained by nature.

The lay out of the cottage was great for a large family, very spacious and practical. The cottage was secluded and very peaceful. The games room is a bonus, and there is a large selection of books and games which we enjoyed playing on an evening. Great location for visiting Lake District, Dales and surrounding areas. Beautiful area and the children loved trying to catch the little fish in the small river that runs by the cottage.

Our holiday was lovely. The owners were very friendly and couldn't do enough. Lovely welcome gifts on arrival and the cottage was beautiful. We would definitely return to this cottage. We had plenty do do around and about and it was lovely for relaxing in as well.

On our arrival we were met by the owner who showed us around everything and was a fantastic host throughout the holiday. The accommodation was very big and comfortable and very well thought out with fabulous country views all around. We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday, a perfect holiday retreat.

This cottage was a warm haven during a cold and wet March/April week. The owners were really welcoming.

It was fantastic to stay in a cottage that was so eminently suitable for my disabled husband who has a motorised wheelchair and also suitable for the family's needs. The cottage was lovely and warm and extremely well equipped.

The owners couldn't have been more pleasant.

The location was perfect for two small children in to every thing. It was a safe environment for them and as a working farm had plenty to keep them interested.
Soulby is a beautiful village and has recently received an award. Local eating places were of a high standard.
The accomodation was comfortable and 'children friendly' I would definitely consider it again when I have the energy to take on two small children again.

The location of this barn conversion outside the village of Soulby, down a long pitted track, was certainly secluded.
The field next to the house with a stream running through it was ideal for the grandchild and the dog.
The barn, all on one level, was also ideal for the grandchild to ride on the wooden trike bike kindly provided by the owner, and the bottle of wine & flowers were a nice gesture.
We used this house as a base for a family party we were attending at a hotel in nearby Appleby, and even invited a few of the family back after the party for a few glasses of fizz, and sat in the lounge ( plenty of seats ) arounfd the clever and very warming gas fire.

The cottage was fabulous size. Light and airy with plenty of space for 2 teenagers and 4 adults.

The house was very warm & cosy with comfortable beds.

Everything we needed in the house and kitchen.

Landlord/owever was very helpful and greeted us with fresh flowers and a very nice bottle of red.

Will definately be visiting again.

Even the horrendous flooding and rain didn't spoil our relaxing weekend at Rainbow Cottage.

We stayed for a long weekend, had a great time. Cottage was big enough for all 5 of us and the under floor heating was an added bonus. Great stay, would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Farmer Stephen is very friendly, and even let us watch the lambs being born! Great for the boys to run around the field and wade in the stream.

Lovely cottage with all the facilities you'd need. Lovely wetroom, kitchen, large bedrooms etc. Having a games room helped with the kids as the weather was not good!! Very nice owner who made us very welcome and was around without being intrusive at all; very friendly and helpful. Having sheep, horses and ducks at the edge of the property made it even more special.

Rainbow Cottage is in an idyllic spot away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The perfect place to rest. The games room was great for the family, and the layout of the bungalow was good. A welcome gift is always a nice touch and was much appreciated. The only thing it lacked was wi-fi, something that would have been considered a luxury just a few years ago but that is now considered a necessity, especially by the younger generation! All in all though, 5*, we loved it! Thank you.

This cottage is on a working farm and the owners were more than helpfull . The peace & quiet was wonderfull, and being able to sit and watch the animals and wildlife in the nextdoor field with the stream running through it was idylic. The property itself was a little quirky in its layout , but the bathroom was ideal for the member of our party with a wheelchair .
A very enyoyable stay , the only slight concern of ours , was the entrance walkway to the front door. Which was very uneven and hard to negotiate if unsteady on your feet ! Otherwise a very nice place to stay!

This property is outstanding in terms of quality of loaction and internal fittings/fixtures.
Ideal for less mobile/wheelchair users with huge wetroom and loads of space.

Easy to travel to sightseeeing locations - The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle is outstanding.

I spent literally days trying to find a cottage that would meet our location needs but also the requirements for my disabled sister. This place was perfect. Thoughtfully and lovingly built. Noisy baby was able to stay sufficiently away from others so not to wake the toddler in the other 'wing'.
Pamela is extremely well organised and phoned us in advance to check requirements. Anything we needed, we just asked and they sorted it.
The cottage was very clean and we have stayed in more expensive places that haven't been so well equipped. The walk in shower was a bonus for the wheelchair (although make sure you are more awake than my mum in the mornings who kept nearly walking into it) and the cottage had lots of areas to spend time as smaller groups.

The table tennis area has started a family annual competition complete with trophy. Stephen and Pamela were personable and genuine. Little touches like getting new bats and balls for the table were great.
Lots of places to eat / sit outside.
The highlight of the holiday for me was the birds. Nesting curlew and oyster catchers under your breakfast table, redstarts were just some of our wonderful memories. Recommend binoculars if this is your thing also.
We were very lucky with the weather, spending most days sat under a tree on a blanket. Even though the cottage is next door to the farm, it still feels private. It's a short ten minute drive from Kirkby Stephen. We recommend Archway Chip shop. Massive portions and friendly staff. For disabled walks, we would recommend the viaduct walk. There is a car park, instead of having to 'abandon' your car in the villages. Although, I would recommend checking the parking before leaving for the walk as we found one shut on the day.
There isn't any wifi at the cottage but we found that a bonus as no-one can get hold of you and it was lovely to escape properly.
Fabulous time had by all. Got a bit emotional when we had to leave and return to realism.

We stayed at Rainbow Cottage for a week and enjoyed our stay immensely. Our 21yr old son is disabled but the cottage was extremely accessible for him.Having a large wet room was important for us and Rainbow cottage definitely delivered ! Everything you need is here and owners Pam and Stephen will help you with anything else. The location is beautiful surrounded by lots of animals and wildlife- about 2.5 miles to Kirkby Stephen where we dined at the Black Bull twice ( gorgeous steak and Guinness pie!!!) We would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a chilled week !!! Home from home ( dogs loved it too!!!)

The cottage is very spacious and comfortable. Everything has been thought of that is needed especially in the kitchen. The area is stunning and the owners very friendly and helpful.
Just 1 suggestion......a book for guests to write in their favourite activities or days out so new guests can get ideas of things to do! Our favourite day was climbing up to the 9 standards.....hard going but a great achievement! We only knew of this after being told by the owner.

The whole property was beautiful. Little finishing touches made all the difference. The owner was extremely friendly. Our dog had a fantastic time running loose in the field.

We loved the field and the stream next door, great for dogs. Perfect location for walks and scenery.

The peace and tranquility of the cottage location. It was nice to wake-up to the sound of bird song. The cottage was all that we expected and more and we cannot wait to go back.

Well laid out property and very private even though two rental properties on site. You never saw your neighbours. Very dog friendly, our dog had a meadow all to himself most of the time.

The cottage is very well maintained, with character but plenty of mod cons and there is lots of space. Evenings on the terrace with horses running in the field, geese and goats were delightful. The children enjoyed having a games room to use.
