A beautiful romantic cottage just off the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, Cow Byre in the quiet hamlet of Barras, Cumbria, makes the ideal base for exploring this picturesque region.
This child-friendly cottage is a stone-built, semi-detached cottage attached to the owners’ farmhouse, which they carefully converted into a first-class holiday retreat. It features stunning views across the Eden Valley and creates an open feel sure to make your stay a memorable one.
The open plan design features French windows leading to a small patio area with garden furniture and barbecue designed to provide outstanding views of the valley scenery.
The living area is split-level, with the sitting area two steps higher than the kitchen and dining area and comes with feature wall, cosy wood-burning stove, and wall-mounted flat-screen Freeview TV with a built-in DVD player.
The small fitted kitchen includes all you need to create a romantic meal to serve in the petite dining area. The loft bedroom boasts a four-poster bed and stylish claw-footed bath and glass balustrade overlooking the sitting room.
Cow Byre sits along the northern edge of Yorkshire Dales National Park on a high promontory surrounded by traditional farm meadows and picturesque pastures and fells. The market town of Kirkby Stephen is five miles away, whilst the famous Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in Britain, lies in the market town of Richmond six miles to the southeast. Day trips to the Lake District and the Howgill Fells beckon.
