Elk Cottage, Glassonby

Award-winning Elk Cottage dates back to the 1600s and adjoins Glassonby Hall in Glassonby. The impressive stone-built cottage welcomes pets and offers beams and stone walls, a log fire in a traditional fireplace, antique furnishing, and a sun-trap terrace garden.

The terraced sandstone-flagged garden is decorated with beautiful mature plants and offers a furnished space for taking morning tea and dining al fresco. Enjoy croquet on the lawn. Unoccupied since 1764, the cottage is now elegantly appointed with antique furnishings to complement the exposed beams, stone walls and other reminders of yesteryear. An oak floor leads to the open-plan space with a dining area and a sitting area with an open fire in a traditional fireplace. The well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast area will produce delicious meals.

The luxury continues in the bedrooms, including a room with a zip-and-link bed and en-suite with rain shower, a second room with a 5' antique linenfold carved bed, and an en-suite with cast iron bath and shower on a riser.

Visitors to Elk Cottage are blessed with award-winning luxury and charm. They can count on WiFi, amenities for young children, parking, central heating, BBQ and laundry facilities, large screen LCD TV, DVD player, and an iPod docking system.

Elk Cottage lies in the delightful locale of Glassonby in Cumbria. Kirkoswald, Dale Raven, the River Eden, Lacey's Caves, the Long Meg Stone Circle, Glenridding Sailing Centre and Rookin House Farm are within easy reach.
