The pretty village of Fenny Bentley lies 2 miles north of Ashbourne. Life in Fenny Bentley revolves, as it has done for years, around the pub and the church. The Church of St Edmund dates back to the 14th century. Some particular features of the church are its 16th century screens and the alabaster Beresford tomb. The heart of the village is surely the Coach & Horses, a welcoming coaching inn with real ales. Just 2 miles away, the traditional market town of Ashbourne, once a fashionable social centre in the 18th Century, boasts an eccentric street plan, quaint cobbled alleyways, old market stalls and welcoming coaching inns. Many fine Georgian buildings remain and host a good selection of restaurants and interesting antique shops.
For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold valleys are close by offering excellent walking and cycling opportunities, whilst the thrills and spills of Alton Towers are just a short drive away.

Church cottage was a very cosy, although very small. The memory foam mattress was fabulously comfortable and the opportunity to have a hot bath at the end of a long walk was an absolute luxury.

Lovely cosy barn conversion by 65KeithV on December 18th 2015
We were made extremely welcome on arrival by the owner Ken who quickly went through the salient points of the accommodation including how to work the log burning stove. However, despite the fact that we were there in November, the central heating in the barn was so effective we did not need to use the log burner. The barn, although not large, has been converted to a very high standard and is ideal for 2 people. It is situated in a lovely quiet spot with the village church on one side and a small field containing sheep on the other. A footpath leads directly from the property onto the Tissington Trail in one direction and the lovely village pub in the other. Ideally situated close to the pretty town of Ashbourne it is also perfect for anyone wanting a walking holiday in the glorious Peak District.
by Mr Vincer on November 29th 2015
The cottage was lovely, comfortable and cosy. The central heating kept it so warm that we did not need to use the wood burning fire. The owner, was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The cottage is well located for walks in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District, one of which passes right by the property, and for the local village pub which is about 100 yards walk away. A very peaceful and relaxing spot to have a break.
