Elderbank, Derbyshire

My husband and I have just come back from a three night stay at Elder Bank Cottage in Derbyshire and all I can say is "wow!" As it was our first wedding anniversary, and we live in London, we wanted to go somewhere that had beautiful surroundings and a real cottage feel. And it was just that.

The cottage is small but beautifully decorated. Everything was clean (exactly how it looks in the pictures!) and it has an open fire.

We couldn't recommend this place highly enough. It is total value for money and very much worth a visit.

The booking service received from Sykes Cottages was excellant and the cottage was well prepared and serviced by the owner.
The cottage had all the amenities we could have asked for.
Bradwell as a location is ideal to explore this lovely part of the country but also close enough to Sheffield for a visit if so desired. Bradwell is also well served with bakery, post office/newsagent, supermarket, pub/restaurants and of course the Bradwell ice cream shop!

Very clean and well furnished cottage in the heart of the Peak District. Friendly area with good amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is a lovely little cottage in a quite, unspoit village in the heart of Derbyshire. Although quite small, the house has been beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. It was warm and very comfortable and the additional small Christmas 'welcome' items was a lovely touch. We really enjoyed our stay there over Christmas. thankyou.

We were delighted with the quality of this lovely little cottage. The open fire was a real bonus and it seemed that everything had been thought of to make our stay comfortable. The owners were friendly and helpful but unobtrusive and we had a great time in the local pub where there was a quiz night, a band and a great welcoming atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed our romantic Christmas break and would definitely like to return.

This is the third time we have stayed at Elder Bank. We love its situation and the cottage. The owners are great.

My husband & I really enjoyed our stay in this 1 bed cottage in Bradwell. It was lovely to have milk,tea & coffee on arrival, with a bottle of wine for later! Ideally situated in the Peak District quiet & within reach of local pubs & shops. Bradwell Icecream is something not to be missed!!
We hope to return in the future :-)

Elder Bank turned out to be everything as stated in the brochure and more. The accomodation and location were superb. The package of "essential" groceries was very welcoming on arrival, as was the brilliant amount of local information.
We throughly enjoyed the may walks and superb scenery we experienced.
Everything about this holiday was excellent.

Spent a short break in February. The cottage was warm , cozy and lived up to expectations. Nice Welcome Pack on arrival and thoughtful touches to make our stay that little extra bit special.

Elder Bank may be small, but it is so cosy and has everything in it that you could want for a week away. The bed was really comfortable, and everything was spotless. Highly recommended.

Lovely very clean, comfortable, well equipt cottage, in a very friendly village.
Not really suitable for anyone a bit unsteady on their legs as steps to cottage are a bit steep, as are the stairs inside.

What a fantastic cottage! The whole experience was fantastic, the booking service, greeting and directions excellent and also great value for money. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. The owners were lovely and gave us a lovely warm welcome. The location was stunning and we felt very much at home. Would definitely come back.

A very warm welcome. Cottage very well fitted and kitted. Some unexpected but welcomed touches such as a charged torch ready to use, every kitchen implement that could be needed , though stored away in minimalistic manner, thus very tidy appearance. 10/10. Very cosy during snowy weather!

The cottage was a real home from home. Beautifully decorated and furnished. A lot of care and thought has been made by the owners to make this a very welcoming and relaxing space.

An excellent property for discovering the area, excellent location with all the facilities in the cottage you need. The little 'extras' provided by the owner were indeed a generous gesture and very welcome.

Great centre for walking and stately homes.

Property ideally situated close to the most interesting parts of the Peak District. As well as the property being of the highest standard, the owners added a number of most thoughtful 'extras', including fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, a bottle of milk and a packet of fancy biscuits! Elder Cottage really felt like a home from home, and we very sorry to have to leave at the end of the week.

It is a wonderful little cottage with lovely welcoming bottle of red wine,biscuits and flowers. Plenty of things to do such as walking, cycling etc.

The cottage was wonderful and the owner had left wine and flowers for us which was lovely and an unexpected surprise. The cottage was the best equipped we have stayed in.

The cottage was superb and the location was excellent - very quiet but in the middle of a village which had plenty of amenities. We wanted for nothing!

The cottage is finished to a high standard and "reeked" of quality. The owner certainly goes that "extra mile" and incorporates some thoughtful and welcoming touches.

The cottage was immaculately presented and extremely clean. We were very comfortable and felt completely at home.

This is a wonderful cottage. I think it's fair to say that this is the best cottage that I have stayed in. A wonderful, warm, cosy and homely cottage. Good clear directions. The property was immaculately clean and arriving to a pint of milk in the fridge and a ready laid fire was exactly what we needed after a 4 hour drive. I would recommend this cottage without hesitation.

A lovely property, a great location. Away from but close enough to the tourist bits. Two lovely pubs nearby. Our favourite being the Old Bowling Green.

Nice touches made us feel welcome i.e wine, CD's and DVD's for evenings.

This is a lovely cottage - nicely furnished and decorated and much thought and care has gone into it. We were very comfortable and were sorry to leave. We'd certainly like to go back there.

The cottage really was excellent -although the owners only lived 100metres away, we never had cause to contact them about anything after the directions and key allocation were sorted on the phone. The only concern now is how any other cottage will compare in the future! We felt the cottage was a home from home, and with the information leaflets left by the owners about local interests, we had a very full week.

The whole place was excellent. The garden is small but sufficient to sit out. Definitely just for a couple. But a lovely romantic place with a real fire.

This is a charming, cosy cottage that we looked forward to returning to everyday. With the weather being cold the open fire was wonderful and we made full use of it. The welcoming bottle of wine and biscuits was a nice touch.

Elder Bank Cottage was a lovely, high standard and very cosy cottage. The wanted for nothing. Owner had left a leaflet explaining everything that we needed to know in the village and what days open. Plenty of logs for fire and towels for bathing. Would recommend this cottage to any couple wanting a quiet, romantic weekend or week away.

A lovely cosy cottage and the welcome "goodies" namely, a bottle of wine, a pint of milk and some biscuits made us feel very welcome.

Plenty to see and do and the weather was very good.

The cottage was ideal for what we needed, in an excellent location. It was very clean, well equipped, warm and comfortable, and although small, had everything we needed. The village was very centrally placed for all the fantastic Peaks walking without much driving.

This was our second visit to this cottage. We like the quiet location and the cottage is just right for two. Elder Bank is in a great location for getting out and about but is nice and peaceful to come back to at the end of a long day.

It was in an ideal location and the cottage was a 'home from home'. The welcome gifts were a nice addition to the stay.

The property is comfortable, individual, well-equipped and idyllically set, and - even at a non-rock-bottom rental - there is a real feeling about it of 'value for money'. The owners show a genuine sensitivity and intelligence in the way they present and prepare the property. Excellent in every way.

My husband and I have been to Elder Bank before. The owners are lovely hosts and always leave a welcome tray. We love the fact that we can walk out from the cottage without having to use the car. We also find the people of Bradwell friendly and helpful. Plenty of places to visit close by if you are not walkers. The opening of the railway tunnels has made the area around Monsal Dale and the surrounding areas very popular.

A beautiful cottage situated in a great part of the Peak District, which formed a good base for our walking holiday.

The standard of cleanliness, decoration and furnishings in Elder Bank was first class. The bed and sofa were both very comfortable. We left our walking sticks behind and the owner very kindly posted them on to us.

The location of Bradwell the Elder Bank cottage and the variety of walking and cycling routes.

The village of Bradwell wasn't too touristy but was beautiful with some good places to eat. Great walking country. Cottage was idyllic for romantic holiday. Could not fault it.

The location of the cottage was perfect. Bradwell has all the necessary amenities and was very close to some excellent walking. We loved it and will be going back.

Elder Bank cottage is one of the very best we have stayed in. We particularly enjoyed the restful atmosphere, and the fact that it is so conveniently located for shops, pubs etc, whilst still being very quiet and peaceful. We would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet rural holiday.

The cottage was very central, we wanted a walking holiday without having to keep going out in the car, and this cottage was ideal. The scenery was wonderful, and the local people so friendly. Perfect, 5 star accommodation.

Elder Bank cottage was ideally located for our walking holiday in the Hope Valley and surrounding area, so many walks close by. The cottage was wonderfully equipped, and furnished and very comfortable. The allocated parking space was a great feature of the cottage. Bradwell has 3 pubs that serve good food, all within a couple of minutes walk from the cottage, although The Samuel Fox is more of a restaurant than a pub, serving excellent food, the best in the village, in my opinion.

This was the most perfect property we could have selected. We were looking for a romantic hideaway for a few days of home-away from home comfort, surrounded by beautiful countryside and we couldn't have chosen a better place. From the welcoming bottle of wine and glasses awaiting our arrival to ample fire fuel, and a very clean comfortable and cosy property overall, we were very happy with our stay. I would wholly recommend this property to any couple who seek a few days of pure relaxation.

Elder Bank was located in a beautiful part of the high Peak District. Lovely friendly village. Fantastic fish and chip shop best in area. Lovely pubs and plenty of them. Good base for our exploration of the Pennine Way so we could have long walking days and plenty of luxury in the evenings. Friendly owner - on hand and helpful. Great to have an open fire for chillier evenings. Altogether very relaxing and restoring.

Elder Bank was lovely and exceeded expectations. As we went in October, we appreciated the warmth, especially the coal fire, it was very cosy in the evenings. Ideally situated in Bradwell for walking and exploring the Peak District. The surrounding area was beautiful, ideal for walking and exploring. Pretty villages and plenty of pubs and tea shops.

The cottage was perfect for 2 - warm cosy and stylish, but also very well equipped and quiet. The location was good too - both within the village with local shop, and more widely with wonderful countryside and walks on the doorstep.
