Apple Cottage, East Devon

Enjoy a romantic rural retreat at Apple Cottage in the beautiful Blackdown Hills of East Devon. This charming holiday cottage for couples (with room for an infant) in the peaceful hamlet of Moorhayne near the tranquil village of Yarcombe lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it popular with those looking for a walking holiday in any season. In spring, wander through ancient woods carpeted with bluebells – or return in the autumn when the green leaves of spring have turned to shades of gold.

Before being tastefully restored as a holiday cottage, Apple Cottage was once a cider barn. The old apple press may be long gone, but in its place is a welcoming, warm and cosy cottage suitable for holidays and short breaks in all seasons. The cottage is available for week-long holidays of 3-night short breaks. Plenty of historic buildings, gardens, pubs and restaurants are within easy reach—off-road parking for two cars.

Relax in the double-aspect lounge warmed by a log burner and direct access to a private rear patio garden. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything a couple should need. Facilities include

• Fridge

• Oven

• Hob with extractor hood

• Microwave

• Dishwasher

• Washing machine

• Plenty of utensils, crockery, Etc.

Sleeping accommodation in the holiday cottage in East Devon comprises a triple-aspect master bedroom with a four-poster bed and a smaller room for an infant, making this a perfect property for a young family with preschool children who can book summer holidays during school term time. This second room can also be a study with a desk and fast fibre broadband connection. A family bathroom with WC, bath, and shower is adjacent to the main bedroom.

Apple Cottage may be deep in the heart of the Devon countryside. Still, it lies within easy reach of the little fishing villages, beaches, and resorts lining Devon and Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, including Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Beer, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, Seaton, and Exmouth.

Yarcombe village is a peaceful rural affair, with plenty of countryside walks down the deep Devon lanes and fields. You can also try your hand at trout fishing in the village and bring some home to barbecue.

The historic market town of Honiton bursts with antique shops, traditional dairies, bakers and tea rooms. A little further afield, explore Exeter and its magnificent cathedral, or hire bikes to cycle the Ship Canal towpath down to the coast at Dawlish. There’s first-class cricket at the County Ground in Taunton for sports lovers or a chance to see Premiership Rugby at Exeter Chiefs.

Apple Cottage is a smoke-free and pet-free holiday cottage. It is usually available weekly but can be rented for short breaks (a minimum of 3 nights).
