Lynmouth Harbour in North Devon

Lynton and Lynmouth

Where Exmoor meets the sea is where Lynton lies, a small but picturesque North Devon village with many old landmarks and buildings to visit including some delightful self catering holiday cottages and seaside apartments offering panoramic sea views. Lynton is situated at the top of a valley with the neighbouring village of Lynmouth with its picturesque harbour below it. The magnificent Victorian Cliff Railway connects the two communities. The scenery is truly stunning at Lynton with clear blue water and countless secret coves scattered at the foot of the cliffs just waiting to be discovered.

Wingate Farm is an impressive coastal cottage surrounded by a working farm in the hamlet of Countisbury, Devon. The pet-friendly cottage enjoys stunning views of the Exmoor countryside and the ocean beyond and offers seclusion, spacious grounds, fresh air, contemporary design and a log fire.

Perhaps the most striking accolade of Lynton is The Valley of Rocks with stunning rock formations and outstanding panoramic views of the ocean filling your vision as far as the eye can see. Wild goats live in the valley and are regularly seen grazing amidst the rocks. Many walks can be taken from your holiday cottage around the area as you dip in and out of the valley providing fantastic views from every angle, and is a great place for a picnic. Horse riding and cycling is also a popular sport in the local area with fabulous natural facilities on every terrain. The town lies within easy reach of other seaside resorts along the Bristol Channel coast including Minehead, Porlock, Ilfracombe and the big North Devon beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands.
