The Swallows, Weymouth

2-Bed, Pet-Friendly Jurassic Coast Farm Cottage. Sleeps 4

The Swallows is one of seven holiday cottages that form Character Farm Cottages and is situated on our working farm 5 miles west of Weymouth and a stone's throw from the stunning Chesil Beach and Jurassic coastline. The cottage sleeps four and has two upstairs bedrooms, one a double and the other a twin.
The cottage has recently been renovated but has maintained a cosy cottage feel with exposed beams and an open log fire. It has French windows leading out onto the patio and garden. The kitchen is well equipped and has a table seating four for sociable meals. The sitting room has a sofa and two armchairs to relax before the log fire or watch TV/DVD. Free wifi keeps you in touch with the outside world! The upstairs bathroom has a bath and shower head attachment.
The Swallows has a decent-sized enclosed garden with a south-facing patio and garden furniture to enjoy a barbeque or evening drinks as you watch the sunset across the Dorset countryside. The garden leads onto our own farmland, from which you can join the Coastal Footpath and numerous shorter walks. Plenty of parking is beside the cottage, and we are dog-friendly (max 2).
There is a games room a short distance from the cottage in the Old Stables, with table tennis, table football and a good selection of paperbacks to borrow. It also has laundry facilities.
We try to stick to weekly breaks running Friday to Friday and short breaks out of season - a 3-night break running Friday to Monday and a 4-night break running Monday to Friday. However, we can be flexible if you have different requirements.
From the cottage, you can walk a short distance to the Fleet and Chesil Beach, which forms part of the famous Jurassic Coast recently featured in Broadchurch, the top-rated TV series.
We farm most of the land surrounding the Swallows and are always delighted to show guests around the dairy to see the cows being milked. Youngsters also like to lend a hand feeding the baby calves! Langton Herring has a pub called the Elm Tree Inn, a short walk from the cottage. In the next-door village, Portesham, you will find the Kings Arms, which we highly recommend.
Weymouth is famous for its lovely sandy beach and shallow waters. It also has other attractions such as Sea Life Center, Nothe Fort, Brewers Quay, karting and a multiplex cinema. Nearby Dorchester has a good selection of restaurants at the newly opened Brewers Square, such as Nandos, Waggamamas, Carluccios and Cote.
Dorset is also home to many stunning country houses and gardens, the Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World, and many fantastic country pubs.

Peaceful Setting!

Lovely stay in a beautiful peaceful setting. Great facilities and lots of toys/equipment for kids. The owners were very friendly and were around if needed.

Location was amazing. We stayed in the swallows cottage which had a nice wraparound garden.

Would highly recommend.

Friendly and Helpful

Always very friendly and helpful could not ask for better, we have stayed at the cottages for a number of years and we will be back.
Many lovely walks along the coast even if you don't have dogs. The Elm Tree is a friendly warm pub with good food, a little bit further out the Swan Inn at Abbotsbury do great meals and plenty of it at very reasonable prices.
