Situated on our working farm The Willows is a delightful, recently renovated one-bedroom cottage ideal for couples or lone travellers wanting a peaceful, rural break. A short walk from the cottage, you will see the stunning Chesil Beach, part of Dorset's Jurassic Coastline. Although only having one bedroom, the Willows has plenty of space for 2 people. The main living area has a well-equipped kitchen space and a comfortable sitting area with a sofa and log fire. There is a table to enjoy a meal together and French windows lead out onto a secluded south-facing patio with garden furniture to sit and enjoy a drink in the evening. The bedroom can be made up as a double or twin. The bathroom contains a bath and a shower attachment. Nearby you will find the Old Stable with table tennis and a Foosball Table Football game. In addition, there is a large collection of novels for you to borrow and a free wifi hotspot to catch up on your emails and social media. There are also laundry facilities.
We try to stick to weekly breaks running Friday to Friday and short breaks out of season - a 3-night break running Friday to Monday and a 4-night break running Monday to Friday. However, we can be flexible if you have different requirements.
The cottage is surrounded by open fields to explore, and for the very energetic, you can easily join the Coastal Footpath. The village of Langton Herring has its own pub, The Elm Tree, which is about a 5 min walk away. Also, there is the Kings Arms Pub in nearby Portesham, which is highly recommended by us.
The Willows is on the edge of the small village of Langton Herring, 3 miles from the seaside town of Weymouth. From the cottage, you can walk a short distance to the Fleet and Chesil Beach which forms part of the famous Jurassic Coast recently featured in the highly popular TV series "Broadchurch". We farm most of the land surrounding the Willows, and we are always very happy to show guests around the dairy to see the cows being milked. Youngsters also like to lend a hand feeding the baby calves! Langton Herring has its own pub called the Elm Tree Inn, which is a short walk from the cottage. In the next-door village, Portesham, you will find the Kings Arms, which we highly recommend.
Weymouth is popular for its lovely sandy beach and shallow waters. It also has other attractions such as Sea Life Center, Nothe Fort, Brewers Quay, karting and a multiplex cinema. Nearby Dorchester has a good selection of restaurants at the newly opened Brewers Square, such as Nandos, Waggamamas, Carluccios and Cote.
Dorset is also home to many stunning country houses and gardens, the Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World, and many fantastic country pubs.
When making a booking or an enquiry, please tell us that you found this Weymouth holiday cottage in Dorset on the My Favourite Holiday Cottages website. Thank you.
Fantastic holiday cottage and great location.
The local pub in the village serves great food but the best has to be a few miles away at Seatown - The Anchors inn great food and great views
Idyllic Dorset Location
“This is the most beautiful place to stay in the most idyllic location - utterly quiet and peaceful with the most stunning views. The patio got the sun in time for breakfast and right in to the evening and the whole place was just lovely, with any numbers of fantastic walks and views in all directions.”
Spacious and clean cottage
“Loved it. Would stay here again. The cottage is spacious and spotlessly clean. It had lovely personal touches. Perfect for our 2 greyhounds. Nice quiet location. Jake is very friendly and helpful.”
Absolutely loved our stay at the Willows, it was perfect for us and our puppy! The location is amazing - deep in the Dorset countryside with only a short drive into the heart of Weymouth! Loved waking up on the first morning to say hello to the Belted Galloways in the fields around the cottage.
The Willows is a lovely cottage in a peaceful location. Everything you want is provided. Good heating, log fire, great kitchen, comfortable bed etc. Hosts were great and made sure everything was ok. Recommend and will definitely be making a return visit.
We had a wonderful holiday in Langton Herring, the cottage was in a wonderful location very spacious and very comfortable.
It was so beautifully quiet as well, which was perfect for a relaxing holiday.
Also the location was very handy for trips out to the surrounding attractions.
Very much a home from home. Highly recommended.
There is the Elm Tree Inn in the village itself but we found the Kings Arms in nearby Portesham which had excellent food and very good service.
It’s a half hour drive along the coast to West Bay (Broadchurch) and neighbouring Bridport and a little further in the opposite direction to Weymouth and Portland Bill, well worth a visit.
