Away from the beach, Weymouth offers plenty more attractions such as walking around the fabulous Jurassic coastline and even abseiling down its limestone cliffs. There are stunning views of the coastline from the Northe Fort, a Victorian structure with underground passages with displays, cannons and films showing its history. There are also superb facilities for water sports at Portland such as windsurfing and sailing which is the town’s main sport, providing a brilliant location for the London 2012 Olympic Sailing. There is also a large gig racing culture in which you can participate or simply join in with the community and attend a town regatta to witness these popular races.
