The Anchor in Lydbrook

Large and Historic Wye Valley Holiday Cottage Sleeping 22. Pets Welcome

The Anchor is a spacious Forest of Dean holiday cottage with a fascinating history. It was once a lively country pub that served the Lydbrook area. Today, it is a beautiful, dog-friendly self-catering accommodation that can accommodate up to 22 guests in its eight bedrooms (six of which are en-suite).

Nestled in the serene countryside of the Wye Valley, it's the perfect place for large groups or multi-family holidays, reunions, celebrations, and family gatherings. At The Anchor, you can find a range of activities to suit everyone's tastes. On lazy days, you can relax in the hot tub, challenge your friends to a game of table tennis or pool in the spacious games room, or simply unwind in the woodland garden with a picnic or BBQ.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can take a stroll along the river or through the forest. The property is conveniently located, with just a short walk to The Forge Hammer, a nearby pub, or the banks of the River Wye. A ten-minute walk through the woods along the dismantled Forest of Dean railway track bed leads you to a choice of an attractive country pub, an organic or an Indian restaurant. Additionally, in the village, the Wye Fry fish and chip shop and a village shop offer further culinary delights and supplies.

The living room at The Anchor includes:

• A large kitchen with an LPG gas cooker, electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and plenty of utensils, cutlery, and crockery to ensure everyone eats together. A second utility room contains a second dishwasher, a washing machine, and a separate tumble dryer.

• An atmospheric dining room with a vaulted ceiling and a table that can comfortably seat 20, along with a bar at one end (bring your own drinks!).

• A spacious sitting room with a wood burner, satellite TV (Full Sky Sports Film & TV options), DVD player, and music system

• A cosy lounge with its own wood burner, TV, and DVD player. The Snug also doubles as a ground-floor bedroom and has a double sofa bed and an adjacent bathroom suitable for wheelchair users with a WC, bath, and shower.

Great House

Great House - clean, fresh, well looked after. We love the walk to the river and to the handy store up the hill. The House gave a space and space and togetherness as we chose. Awesome place.

Mum's 50th

We stayed here for a week for my mum's 50th and it was absolutely amazing! We had a big age range and it suited everyone, my 1 year old loved it! Extremely clean House and the facilities available were more than you could want! Pool table, pin ping, hot tub and DVDs etc if you want a quiet evening, among many more. All of our party would stay here again! It's a remote location but close to loads of different towns so great variety! Loved it!
