The Old Cart House, Helmsley

Very homely, enough room for the eight of us plus one dog who stayed here last
September.

Will always return to area, and this cottage. I have been staying in Yorkshire for the past 4 years on holiday camps, but this was first time in a rented cottage, we would rate this holiday as the best stay that we had.

The cottage was very well equiped, clean and the owners were very welcoming. The location was fantastic with suberb views making our stay very enjoyable and relaxing. There was great places to visit nearby such as Pickering, Thirsk and the coast.

The family holiday was a complete success. The cottage was excellent for our needs, our hosts friendly and attentive, the weather was kind and the scenery superb. I'd forgotten how glorious are the North Yorks moors.

The only criticisms that could be levelled were due to my wife being severely disabled with arthritis.

The drive up to the cottage was very rough and bone-shaking, the steps to the house rather steep for her and the settees in the cottage itself were very low and difficult for her to use'

However, as I said, that was due to my wife's condition rather than the cottage itself, but it is a point I think Mr Robinson might care to consider for the future.

The owners had left mugs and everything ready to make a cup of tea on our arrival, and a bottle of wine. This was very much appreciated on a dark December night. It was warm and inviting and had everything we needed. My large family had a fantastic stay, thank you

2 families, grandma and 2 dogs had a great stay over Christmas! The cottage had everything we needed and was warm and welcoming, as was the owner! The open fire was an added bonus and there was plenty of space for everyone. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return at another time.

Stayed here for 5 day's and visited Pickering. The cottage is well equipped.
Very Quiet location not to far to travel to any where.

We stayed in this wonderful cottage at the beginning of July for 7 nights and it surpassed our expectations. The area is stunning, the owners are lovely (we arrived to fresh milk, wine and biscuits) and the cottage is extremely well equipped.

So much living space and every modern convenience including dishwasher (complete with dishwasher tablets), washing machine,tumble dryer, fridge, freezer and microwave. The bedrooms were well set out with clean linen on the comfortable beds, we all slept extremely well.

The cottage is located on a working farm so there were lots of animals to see including a peacock and his two peahens. So many lambs and other young animals - we spent a lot of time going "awwwwww'.

The moors are breathtaking and the cottage is right in there, we already know we want to go back next year, there is so much to do around that area.

Very helpful and friendly owners. Kids loved watching the Ducks and Chickens etc in the farm. Fantastic views. A real joy to stay in!

Tourist Board rating should be higher. The accommodation is fantastic, for able bodies. The views re great for adults, animals around the farm are great for young children. Open fire great. We loved every minute of the holiday.

This holiday provided a beautiful setting for our week in Yorkshire, though a little remote the property was very well equipped and the owners were very friendly towards us. We would feel very comfortable recommending this property to any of our friends.

A true gem. Cottages like these are hard to find.

The warmth and generosity of the owners made our holiday, they had the children feeding corn to the hens, stroking lambs and playing with border collie pups! We would recommend this lovely cottage to anyone.

The accomodation was fantastic, we would definateley recommend it. We had a fantastic Christmas a lovely mixture of sight seeing to Pickering and Whitby and spending time with the family. The accommodation was very well equipped, we cooked a full Christmas dinner with no problems. We loved the open plan layout of the kitchen, dining room , lounge, worked really well for us.

The cottage was outstanding, the owners very nice and kind. We were close to them, but they respected our privacy. This is a luxury house and everything was perfect. This is a must visit house, even better than advertised...

Location was beautiful. Not too far away from home, but once you got there you could have been a million miles away. The cottage was beautiful and well supplied with everything we needed. The bottle on wine on arrival was a nice touch too.

Fantastic farm with lots happening, and very friendly hosts who invite the children to feed the kid goats!

It was amazing from the moment we set eyes on the property we all fell in love with it, we didnt want to come home again! would definitenly come back again.

The quality of the accommodation was excellent, the owners were friendly and helpful, the location was very scenic and there was a good local pub in close proximity serving great beer and food.

The location is brilliant - miles from anywhere, middle of nowhere, back of beyond! We loved it! Our every need was pretty much catered for in a very clean and comfortably furnished establishment.
We'll be going again I'm sure.

The friendliness of the owners, yet they gave you your own space. The springers and the ducks and hens, loved being on a working farm.

This is a beautiful cottage and we received a warm welcome from the owner. We had been before and were not disappointed with our return visit. Our grandchildren loved the farm animals and we all loved the open fire.

Wonderful location, very peaceful area with lovely views. The weather was fine so the walks from the cottage were enjoyable. The owner was friendly and very helpful. Local pub was excellent, good hospitality and food was brilliant.

We found the space to be excellent, with 4 adults and 5 children the separate living areas were brilliant. With having the owners living next door that was a big benefit especially when the downstairs shower did not work! The owners had left a collection of leaflets available which helped when planning our stay. We found the whole experience from our first contact with yourselves, to arriving at our wonderful holiday home to be excellent. This is the first time I have booked with Sykes, but it won't be the last! Thank you!

This was one of the best properties we have ever visited. Everyone in the party loved it. It was in such a beautiful setting. We really hated to leave and proposals were made for a return visit.

We really liked the idyllic area. The owners who lived in the main farm building were very friendly and helpful. The local pub was great, and only a seven minute walk, with very good value food. A great holiday was had by the whole group, will visit again.

My wife and I have stayed in this property twice. That says it all.
The owners have struck the correct balance ie friendly and helpful if you require it without getting in your space. We love both the location and the property (as do our three spaniels)

The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the welcome pack was lovely. The open fire in the house was gorgeous. The house was very well supplied.

Being on a farm - location was excellent. Lovely light main lounge area. General friendliness of people on farm and in area. Local pub brilliant - where else can you buy half a dozen eggs at 11 pm on a Saturday night?

Good food at the "Feversham Arms". The owners were very friendly but not intrusive.

The area was great for walking. The size of the cottage was ideal for a large number. The local pub had great food and was really friendly and only 10 mins walk.Owners very friendly and helpful.

The Old Cart House in Farndale
was superb. It's position enabled us to tour the area by car and also enjoy
the local walks and views. The farm itself is wonderfully picturesque.

The Old Carthouse is a clean, welcoming property, with many extra touches provided. Our second visit and we would certainly return again. The view from the cottage is breathtaking.

This is the third consecutive year we have stayed at this property and we
intend booking again for next year. Pleasant and helpful owners, great scenery, a super pub close by and a rooster for an alarm clock.

This is the second time that myself and six friends have stayed at this property and have enjoyed our time spent there. Its location is great for walking - the scenery spectacular and the cottage facilities suit our every need - what a perfect setting.

This was the fourth year we have stayed at this property. I think that says it all!

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday at the Old Cart House. The accommodation met our requirements for our family get-together perfectly. Our children just loved opening the curtains in the morning to see sheep within a few metres! Everything was superb including the booking process with Sykes.

The perfect 'away from it all' cottage. Didn't arrive until 8pm and a lovely fire was burning, along with essentials. Couldn't have wished for more! 'Feversham Arms Inn' - extremely welcoming and not too far away. Good atmosphere, good food; what more could you ask for?

The location of this cottage is just perfect. It is such a beautiful spot, close to lovely walks, a good pub within walking distance and so quiet and peaceful. The owner and his family went out of the way to make our stay excellent bringing up newborn lambs for the children to cuddle. We woke up every morning to the sound of chickens, cows and sheep right outside our windows.

The cottage was very good generally and the location delightful. The scenery around was spectacular and we had forgotten how scenic the North Moors are. Our hosts were friendly and helpful in every way as were, indeed, all the good Yorkshire folk that we met.
The whole family enjoyed the holiday very much.

A great location with wonderful surroundings. The cottage was great for 4 adults and 4 children, plenty of room for all of us. The children enjoyed the farm animals, especially the daily visit from the peacock.

The setting and views from the cottage were fabulous as well as the fact that it was on a farm so safe for children and dog and kept them occupied. There is plenty to do and see in the area as well as there being a pub within walking distance.

This property is far bigger than it looks on the photos and is very comfortable for a large group that includes children. There is plenty of seating, a lovely dining area and lots of crockery, glasses etc. The area is so beautiful and there seems to be no one for miles, yet the little pub is within walking distance if you fancy a stroll. Excellent, would return again for sure.

Relaxing holiday, everything we needed to sit back and take it easy. Great walks for dogs, fantastic views and owners. Ideal cottage for Christmas break, friends visited and were envious they did not book adjoining cottage. Ours is a family of nine and plenty of space for kids and adults alike.

Good size accommodation and friendly owners who let the children look around the farm.
Everything you needed and more for a family get together. Even had a large dog crate should you need to confine your pet! Wonderful views over the countryside and amazing sky at night as there was no light pollution. Need to take a head torch though if you are going to venture out in the dark to walk dogs!

Beautiful location with home from home comforts. All 9 of us had a fantastic relaxing break. Little touches like the bottle of wine and tea and biscuits waiting for our arrival made it even more special.

The Old Cart House was in a beautiful location on a working farm. The accommodation was so well laid out, two lounge areas with a TV in both. For a party of 8, plus 2 dogs, it really was perfect. The local pub served lovely food and beer and the daffodil walk was spectacular with paths suitable for the elderly. The owners were very friendly and helpful, it really was a fantastic holiday.

Great place to unwind right in the middle of nowhere with no mobile reception and no broadband. The owners in the neighbouring farm are very welcoming and not at all intrusive - just perfect. Pretty good pub is less than half a mile's walk away and with perfect darkness it's a good place for stargazing. Only 45 minutes from some terrific beaches which our wee dog particularly loved. Highly recommended.

The location was superb. No wi fi or mobile signal made it a more relaxing holiday although there was a landline in the cottage should you need to contact anybody. The owner was very friendly but not intrusive.

If you want to get away from it all then this is a fab way to do it. A beautiful cottage which is perfect for a large family break and the beautiful scenery on a cold frosty morning was spectacular. This well equipped clean large cart house which sits on the farm is well worth a visit.

This was the 4th year we have used this cottage. It is perfect for our needs and we wouldn't ever look anywhere else.

Loved the position of the property. The cottage was great & catered for all our family needs. It was really good to have the downstairs bedroom & shower for my husband. We all had a lovely time & although feeling remote the cottage was within easy reach of walks & tourist attractions.

We had a lovely holiday at The Old Cart House. We had lots of space for the whole family to relax and unwind. Plenty of places to walk and see. Our Grandchildren loved seeing the animals in the farm and the log fire was lovely and cosy on an evening.

The location of The Old Carthouse was stunning. Owners friendly but not obtrusive.The wildlife was great ....even the noise of the dawn chorus by the cockerel and hens was a pleasant change from normal life. Excellent accommodation for friends to get together with children and dog. Open plan living ideally suited for the group. Sleeping options were all in proper beds - no sofa beds. Lots to do outdoors in locality for dogs and children...lovely food shops in Helmsley and good farm shops.

The Old Cart House is in a great location. The property has everything we had hoped for and more. We received a very friendly welcoming. The owners were helpful.
