Wethercote Cottage is a traditional stone build a semi-detached residence, with all original features preserved from the exposed wooden ceiling beams to the pine doors.
Inside the rustic property, guests are welcomed by a cosy and open plan living area, with leather seating and a stone fireplace with a wood burner effect electric fire, a dining table and a fitted kitchen suite with a breakfast bar and all electrical appliances.
Upstairs, the property retains its charm with two bedrooms with TVs, one double and one twin, as well as the family bathroom with bath and shower facilities.
Outside, the family can enjoy the expanses of the farmland and take in the views of the far-reaching stretches of the Moors, as well as enjoy the numerous footpaths.
From Wethercote Cottage, you are 4 miles away from the nearest pub and 7 miles from the market towns of Helmsley and Thirsk, with their tea rooms and country inns. In just a short drive you can tour multiple historical sites, museums and stately homes, or rent a bike from the nearby Sutton Bank Bikes and take on the trails. Cleveland Way is also close by, from which you can catch the train to the Yorkshire coasts.
Very useful for visiting York and Thirsk. Good local attractions. Pleasant owners in adjoining farm. Relaxing and quiet place.
Just relaxing, in the centre of nature with good greenery all the way.
A good cottage with welcoming and friendly owners, situated in a peaceful, relaxing area. It was interesting being on a working farm.
Booking was so easy with Sykes Cottages.
A comfortable and cosy cottage with a friendly and helpful owner. In a great location, which is off the beaten track but not too far from anywhere. Highly recommended!
Quiet and peaceful, cosy, yet it had everything we needed and some things we did not expect. Owners were very pleasant and helpful, and the location meant we were untroubled by passing vehicles or other tourists. Fabulous places to eat nearby, and views of the surrounding countryside as you drove to and from the cottage were amazingly beautiful.
Good accommodation, and very friendly helpful people.
The owners were perfect hosts, they made all of us feel very welcome at all times. The cottage was great, clean and very well equipped, and the weather was great also, perfect for a peaceful holiday.
A beautiful location, very quiet and peaceful with wonderful views.
It was quiet, had a beautiful view and was in a great location.
The cottage was in a quiet country location which was to our liking and the owner's were very welcoming.
I had a wonderful time at Wethercote Cottage. The owners were lovely, helpful people. I will definitely consider staying here again.
Wonderful break in glorious counryside - Delightful
We simply had a lovely time in an area that we know well. We thought the cottage beautifully presented and located and the owners were both very helpful and friendly.. We loved the isolation but ability to get to nearby places like Rievaux, Helmsley, York and Beverley. We could not have had a better place to stay. The Farm was also very interesting and being high up and flat we managed some short walks too..Delightful
Peaceful home from homebut with beautiful views
The cottage is very well maintained and the owners could not have ben more helpful, nothing was too much trouble to make our stay a very happy one.
Great area, lovely owners
Cottage overall was fine, although double mattress needs replaced and some small glasses needed as pint ones are too big. There is no freezer although owners let us share theirs. Must mention cleanliness, it was immaculate and good quality bedding
Lovely remote location on a working farm. Good views across the moors and walks available from the door. Warm welcome from the owners who were at a busy time of year for the farm (lambing).
Owners were kind and friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the walks and the villages in the region.
We were made very welcome. The owners family were lovely, allowed us into the lambing pens. Cottage has the best bed I have ever slept in on a holiday. Beautiful old church at Byland, made very welcome on Palm Sunday. Fantastic bakers and butchers in Helmsley - 'Masham sausages' - delicious!
