A lovely cottage, great views, close to all amenities of village.
Very well located for touring the Yorkshire Dales.

it is a wonderful base to explore the dales by car or on foot with plenty of walks from the doorstep the crown pub in Askrigg is good for meals

A wonderful little cottage, very clean, well equipped with a lovely comfortable bed.The village has 3 pubs a village shop and a deli which sells home made take a way meals. The locals make you feel very welcome. Askrigg is a gateway to many scenic walks and drives and within easy reach of the Lakes.

This cottage had everything needed for our week in Wensleydale. With it not being on the roadside, it certainly provided a very quiet night's sleep with no traffic noise. A few villagers using the footpath past the door during the evening also no problem. There is no dedicated car parking but we soon got used to finding a space at the right time outside the church. So a perfectly adequate accommodation with no complaints from us. Thanks.

The cottage although more than adaquate in terms of equipment has certain down sides. It is reached via a very narrow ginnel over the churchyard and it is quite a feat to get luggage in. You can go the long way via the road and back entrance but there is no parking at this point and you are not told this entrance exists until you work it out after you have struggled. The stairs are very narrow and steep so not for anyone with any mobility issues. There is a very narrow bathroom with on shower.
The biggest issue with this cottage is lack of parking. We found church parking full most days whatever time we returned, likewise when we arrived. Nearest car park is half a mile uphill at the other end of the village. Village centre crammed with cars especially on weekends.

Stated here for a week recently. The cottage has been refurbished nicely and sympathetically with its age. It is well equiped. However as a previous review has stated it does have negative points too. The distance from parking (whilst not vast) and the tricky access with luggage and belongings is a pain. Definitely not one for anyone with mobility issues. The path directly outside the cottages has become covered in grass would be difficult to avoid taking in wet/mud in bad weather. Would benefit from a new outside door mat as it is very worn. There is no carpet or rugs downstairs. From photos there obviously used to be, presume it was removed as damaged, but stone floor is cold and would be slippy if gets wet. Does need at least a rug. Coal fire is nice and needed as cottage gets quite chilly due to no double glazing and there are gaps in the door panels that the wind whistles through. I think it would get cold in winter. Be aware there is a bath with a hand held shower only. Makes hair washing difficult and again no good for mobility problems. Lots of hot water though. Cottage very small so make sure you don't want lots of personal space! Stairs are very steep. Also missed not having a bit of garden to sit out in for a cuppa. Amazing views from windows at the front though.

Good location - in heart of village but with good outlook at front of house. Excellent for walking.

The holiday was excellent and the cottage is in a good location.

Ability to access local walks directly from the cottage appreciated. Good selection of eating places in Askrigg. Not using the car is always a bonus to us. Particularly good is The Rowan Tree. Excellent service, food and value. We had awful weather initially but it did mean that the waterfalls were particularly impressive.

The village location of the cottage is very attractive and its central position means that most places of interest were within 1 hours drive. The cottage had a file of information on the Dalesand was an excellent way of allowing guests to see where other vistors had enjoyed going.

The cosy feel of the place, and the fire. The view. The comfortable bed. A good base for walking. Kings Arms is a good pub, character-wise and for food and drink - including veggie food. Local shops very good.

Lovely cottage & area.

Having such a beautiful cottage in such a wonderful location to come home to at the end of each day really made the holiday so special. We managed do many superb walks straight from the cottage too.

A good quality cottage. "Humble Pie" was an outstanding source of cooked meals to eat at home.

Askridge is a very relaxing & friendly place in an excellent location. Makes a really good holiday. Will definitely recommend it to others.

Excellent location for good walks. The White Hart in Hawes sells the finest pint of Theakstons in Yorkshire & does very good food.

The owner had put Christmas touches to the cottage, which was particulaurly lovely and added to the cosy atmosphere of the cottage.

A lovely village situation with all sufficient amenities without being touristy. Ideal for those with or without transport. The cottage had everything we needed. The open fire was a lovely bonus. The cottage was beautiful with lots of lovely finishing touches and wonderful views The village itself was charming with all 3 pubs offering quality home cooked food and the added bonus of being dog friendly. All in all we had a wonderful weeks holiday and visited lots of places by car. We fell in love with Yorkshire and will definitely be back!

We found Lavender Cottage the ideal base for our relaxing week. Its location is just right for exploring the area. The village itself has plenty of amenities with three nice pubs and a great bakery and deli. Overall great.

It was an ideal cottage to use as a base to do walks from the front door and also explore the Yorkshire Dales by car . Will use the cottage again.

Beautiful views from cottage, and it was within few minutes walk of shops & pubs. Located very well within easy reach of all North Yorkshire Dales attractions.

It was a home from home, everything was perfect. There was lots of hot water for bathing and a very comfortable bed. Village amenities were great and very friendly locals. A big plus was the sun shone every day!

The cottage was ideally situated in a very peaceful location adjacent to the church in the centre of the village of Askrigg. There were numerous short walks (3-4 miles) on the doorstep, most including an opportunity for a Labrador to have a paddle. There were three pubs in the village offering local beers and lovely meals with a shop and deli across the road for provisions.

The location of Lavender Cottage is excellent for exploring this part of Yorkshire.To experience village life in this wonderful setting was a privilege. We loved Lavender cottage.

Lavender Cottage is very clean and the abundance of hot water is great! A genuine Dale's cottage in a quiet location - exactly what we wanted.
