The large and spacious cottage has a superbly equipped kitchens and is furnished to an extremely high standard with the emphasis on comfort and relaxation. The cottage retains much of its original rustic character with open beamed ceilings, traditional stone fireplace and pan tile roofs so typical of the area
Our traditional stone cottage is one of nine set around extensive adjoining gardens, a peaceful courtyard with a fountain and dovecote with white doves and Doris, our resident peahen.
The gardens contain garden furniture, barbeque and a Garden house for relaxing, well as areas for badminton and football along with a children's play area with play equipment sandpit and a play shed with garden toys.
Our location provides a perfect base for those seeking a countryside setting while still being only a short walk to the lovely old market town Pickering. Its attractions include the famous North York Moors steam railway, a historic 12th-century castle, Victorian museum and indoor swimming pool as well as excellent shops, market, pubs and restaurants selling superb local produce.
We are at the gateway to the North York Moors and Dalby forest, so take time to discover their spectacular rolling hills, heather-clad moorland, forests and pretty villages (Herriot, Heartbeat and Harry Potter country). Within a short drive is Yorkshire's heritage coastline with sandy beaches, towering cliffs, bird reserves and tiny fishing villages or the ancient city walls and narrow cobbled streets of the historic City of York. All around us the area has some of the finest stately homes, castles, museums, theme parks, zoo, working farms and breweries or be energetic - go rambling, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, and quad biking, fishing or play golf.
